I have blank Sony DVD+R's and was wondering if it is good media to back up games onto? Thanks :)

Apparently some +R's don't work properly on some machines but that's not to say yours won't. I only use Vertex 4X DVD-R's now as I've never had one fail so far on my V1 PS2.

BTW, when I insert a blank Vertex DVD-R, I get this reading in DVDDecryptor --> Manufacturer ID: SONY04D1. So yeah, if Vertex discs are a Sony-based blank then I can vouch for the quality so far :)

SMD 3.6
Custom-made Slidecard
Seagate 80GB ATA HDD
HDLoader
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S
Vertex DVD-R (preferred media so far)

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of drive and firmware are you using.

In DVD Decrypter mine read SONY-D11-00. What would determine if the blank media wont work on a ps2? I have the new slimline ps2.

There's nothing but experience or advice from others that'll determine whether or not seemingly good-looking media will work. That is, it's trial and error and from experience some media works fine on some models but not so well on others.

For example, my back-up of Burnout 3 on a Vertex 4X DVD-R works perfectly well on both my V1 PS2 (slidecard/SMD 3.6) and my brother's V7 PS2 (fliptop/SMD 3.6). However, his backup on a Princo 4X DVD-R burnt straight after mine using everything the same except the media will only work properly on my PS2!
