first of all did you unrar the files, ?
burn the image file with Nero image recorder at the lowest speed possible
do you use swap magic yourself or do you just use your friends ps2?
and lastly what game was it?

Maybe youve done something wrong or it could be a problem with that game you downloaded. When you download it extract it if it is in any .RAR or .Zip file so that you will have access to the Raw ISO or CCD or whatever file. Burn it to DVD using DVD Decrypter (my fave) and you should be all set.

And another thing, if your PS2 isn't chipped, that might be the problem itself.

ok,This is for WinRAR which is what i use
just highligh (click on once) the first file in the list of files that you downloaded (something like TTB.000 or TTB.001)
right click on the file and choose extract file.
You can choose extract here to extract it to the same folder your RAR files are in, but i always separate them and make a separate folder for the one i have extracted.
this should extract the ISO file out of the Rar file.

Then you just use DVD Decrypter and burn (MODE->ISO->WRITE) it.
As long as your friends chipped PS2 plays his back ups, your should work. If it does not then i am not sure why because that is the process i have always used and they work fine.
Try burning it with DVD Decrypter set at 1X
if that fails to load or you have choppy audio/video then try burning it again but at 4X

Also a note, you need to use GOOD QUALITY DVD's or most of the time it will not work. TDK,Philips,Verbatim,Ritek, Even Memorex may work.
Just not that crappy no-name stuff you buy to save money.

Hope this has helped a little and not confused you a lot.

there are so many factors. But i can tell you from experience that the directions i gave should work. You Download, then you extract the first file, then burn the ISO it gives you.
Other factors could be that your burners firmware is outdated and needs to be updated. Can use DVD Decrypter to search by doing this.
TOOLS->DRIVE->CHECK FOR FIRMWARE UPDATES or just search the net by entering your model number followed by firmware
like for me Sony DRU-700A Firmware

Also could still be that you are using crappy media. You have not said yet which brand you are using.

Other than that i am out of idea's.

I agree with steimy, the only thing left to check is the media you are using. Other than that, it just might really be a problem with the game.

Remember this is pirated stuff, you can't really expect the best.

The file that you are supposed to burn to the DVD is the .ISO file. You might need DVD Decrypter to do that though. (Mode > ISO > Write) Select the .ISO and burn it. I recommend using a relatively low speed and good medium berore you continue.
