i have a modded ps2 with a dms4 lite... i have been backing up and then burning all my games with dvddecrypter at 2x speed with ritek dvd-r media. the games work on my ps2, but not all the time, sometimes it takes a couple of tries to play the game...i get the red screen, so i reboot a couple of times, and then it finally loads.. just wanted to know if this is a normal procedure you do with a modded system,or am i doing something wrong...

Sounds like a dodgy laser?

If not try burning at 1x

I have a DMS4 Pro chip in mine, and no that is not at all normal.
Mine load the first time, every time.
Question, did you install the ToxicBIOS V1.3 for that chip?
If not then get it and it may solve your problems.
you can get it here under third party flashes section
http://web02063.prolocation.net/phpBB2/index.php
they also have instruction on burning it to a CD-R so i would read those too.

If you have the ToxicBIOS then you may want to try cleaning or adjusting the laser. I would only do this if you have this problem with all your back ups. Or if you even have this problem with originals.

If your laser plays up, it doesen't always affect every game, sometimes it can only affect some of them.
I would reccomend your tryed cleaning the laser and/or adjusting it, if you have installed the ToxicBIOS and tryed burning at 1x and still no luck.

my bios is ToxicBIOS V1.3

it does happen for most of my backups, the originals run 1st time.
i find that some backups take longer to boot while only 1 (nhl2k5) boots ups almost everytime after first or second boot. i other backups it sounds like the dvd is skipping when it does not read..

maybe i will try adjusting/cleaning the lense

if you don't already know how, here is a good tutorial for fixing your PS2. May guide like cleaning and adjusting the laser.
