I've been having trouble getting a clean encoding. I wonder if has something to do with the DVD I'm using? I've always had this question in back of my mind. What's better, DVD+R or DVD-R?

Can someone help me?

it really depends on the job

perhaps explain what you are actually trying to burn then see what everyone says

It's all really a matter of which one is more compatible with your setup (dvdrw, set-top dvd player). Most new set-top players will play both but dvd-r is more compatable on older set-top players. Some dvdrw's perform better with one than the other eg: lite-on's prefer dvd+r, pioneer's prefer dvd-r not to say they won't perform well with high quality media of the other format. I prefer dvd+r because with +r/rw I can booktype them dvd-rom (most compatable format)(not all dvdrw's can do this). Whichever you use it is more inportant that you use only high quality media as poor quality media will not only cause playback problems but can cause compatability problems as well. Here's some technical stuff about the two formats. http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/113
