I was not sure where to post this question, but does scanning a dvd with a photo scanner do anything to the dvd itself? Thanks.

I doubt it, as long as you're just scanning the topside of the disc (label side).

I've scanned many of my DVD's - it does not affect the playback.
I've done more damage putting them in the dvd player incorrectly and scratching the hell out of them.
