Hello can someone please help me with winMX please. i downloaded it the other day. ive started getting used to bits of all but not all exactly. at the moment im trying to download a few films. can someone please tell me why and how long does it take to que? and if someone right clicks on my name where im trying to download of them is it quicker if they click start transfer? because it doesnt seem that anyone is doin it for me ... help with this plz.
Use Gator2MX to load all the OpenNap servers into WinMX, and then periodically (say monthly) update the servers with Gator2MX

When opening WinMX, click the Networks Tab. Click the OpenNap Protocol Networks Tab. Right click, Select All, and Connect to activate the OpenNap Servers Usually, some OpenNaps will connect
I only use WinMX for Mp3s. WinMX has not worked well for Movies. Movies are just too big. The Movie names and sizes are poorly consistent User to User, so downloading from multiple users (faster) rarely occurs. Worse rarely do the Movies finish downloading
For Mp3s and WinMX, I Search and select a lot for downloading. About ten-percent connect and download. After a few days, I delete those that did not download. Then do a new Search, and select another batch for downloading
For Movies, you are better-off using eMule and certain sites. Or use an account at www.streamload.com and certain other sites......Emule consistently downloads movies well, though it takes a week to get 1.4GB movie - - but you can get several movies at once. (I have had 3 or 4 movies coming down simultaneously). You can download movies from Streamload in a few hours, but need an account there

For Winmx, you first need a lot of patience. The download speed depends on both type of connection, of the quality of these connections, of the amount of uploads allows by the user you want to download from... As for the queue, no possibilities to give a time, if you are in position 1 behind a 56k downloading a movie from a 56k allowing 2 uploads, you will probably never get to download from that user. As for start transfer, sure, it s quicker since it takes your out of the queue and start your download. If you dont wish to wait, you can always try to send the people a message asking them to start you.
If you stick strictly with the default servers on winmx, it's not so hard to get what you want. I've found that the quality of the files is consistantly higher than when I was using Morpheus or Kazaa. However, winmx is not a program for dialup users. I'd recommend that you have at least dsl or cable, because you have to leave the program connected for long periods at a time to achieve the desired quality of the downloads.
Oh, and don't message people asking them to start your downloads. I usually kill downloads of those who do. I have my queue and bandwidth throttles set where I do for a reason, and I don't need to come back to my computer and find 30 or so messages "please start my download :)". If I started every download that I was requested, no one would ever be in the queue, and my computer would fail to load even the simplest of webpages because of excess bandwidth usage. Putting the throttles in place reduces this side effect, but then the downloads take forever to go at .04bps. And no one likes downloads that take that long.
Best bet? Go into the chats and find trading rooms. Trade and you'll get bandwidth priority most of the time in return for the same thing. And it's not a bad deal to get the things you want just for starting someone else's downloads, is it?
winmx is the best p2p out there for movies.
i use version 2.6 which is no longer available and we can not use the winmx peer network any longer.
i only use private openap servers and i have my own to share my movies to friends.
i am one of the first to get movies as i dl them from mIRC at very good speeds.
i do agree wit ya though. winmx 3 series r pretty bad. very hard to get a movie or in fact anything. if you stay there long enough then u will get invited to private servers but first of all get yourself on some openap servers. qualitymovies is pretty good.

As long as you use DSL or Cable, just start a few movies going. They will queue up remotely, and I usually find that 24 hours later everything has either finished or has got through the queues and is running at a good speed.
As for sharing, whenever someone asks me to start them I will simply becuase they asked, even if they have nothing I want. This makes WinMX better for everyone!
