Hi Guys,

Ok here is my situation:
I want to capture some of my favourite shows onto my PC, so I can make my own DVDs!

I have a capture card called: 'Origo Capture Card', not expensive but it does the trick.

I had my PC in the same room as the sky box. I connected a male-to-female cable to my sky box and the other end to the capture card. It captured perfectly.

Here is where the problem starts:
I now had to move my PC to a different room. The cable is not long enough so I have to join 2 different cables together. This causes the quality to degrade, there seems to be static on the screen.

The distance between the sky box and the PC is around 30 meteres, is there any wire or component which can fix this problem? Is there a cable long as 30 meteres?

I prefer to capture via this method, as I do not want to purchase DVD Recorder.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I think you can buy some kind of booster to boost the signal like you do on terrestrial TV. It May be worth asking at your local Maplins if you live in the UK.

Hope this helps,

Pez

Well you see I dont want to purchase a booster as it may not necesarily fix the problem, plus they cost around £30.

I remember I had a connection from a different room, and managed to get crystal clear quality.

But for some reason it is not working now. At the moment I am using 2 10 meter cable which are joined together. I think this is causing the problem.

Is there a coaxle cable which is around 20 to 30 meters? Is there a cable that length which may work?

Thanks for your input.

Yeah you can get longer cables because thats what I had to do at Uni and that cable was about 20 meters. Basically one cable ran from the main point to my friends TV, and then we had a cable that went from his TV to my TV. The picture was not that good but that was because we didn't have a booster, but I found that when he swicthed his TV off my picture would become a lot clearer. That may work for you also.

But yeah you can get cables as long as you want, they might have them at the DIY store.

Hope that helps.
