Just thought I would let you know I am in Canada as well and just ordered a 500 spindle of Prodisc media from Meritline.com.

They ship UPS Express which includes all of the brokerage fees etc so the price quoted for shipping when you place the order is all you pay. I have had bad experiences with UPS in the past when the package was sent normal ground service and their ridiculous fees often add up to more then the cost of the product.

The total cost for the 500 discs in CDN dollars including shipping was $319. GST still has to be added but that is the case no matter whether you buy them in Canada or import from the US.

That price works out to about $70 per $100 disks in Canadian funds. In addition UPS Expres only takes 2-3 days from the US to your door in Canada.

jackedup, thanks for the info. Did you have to pay duty fees, and if so how much? Yes, those brokerage fees can be a killer.

No there was no duty or any other fees aside from GST. You have to phone UPS as soon as the order is shipped and arrange to pre-pay the GST or they charge a COD fee for collecting the GST at the time of delivery.

If you pre-pay the GST then there should be no other fees. The shipping was about $9 more then shipping by mail but the post office usually charges a $5 handling fee for clearing customs plus the GST and they take about a week to get the goods so UPS was only about $4 more and much quicker shipping.

Thanks for the Canadian link for blank media. Their prices are indeed decent and they seem to have a good inventory.

I tried finding a supplier in Canada with reasonable prices but until now could not find one.

I will certainly be buying from them in the future.

Thanks again

Benq is HIGH quality media...uses azo dye.
So do many others since Verbatim sold the manufacturing rights to their original AZO dye. The difference is that few of them are manufactured to the standards that the Verbatim/MCC media was.

I've burned about 30 of the BenQ 4x DVD+r now.
No problems yet.
The results work in my pc's dvd drive, my Toshiba in one room , my Apex in the bedroom and in my portable
made by Mintek.

Picked up a 50 pack of the BenQ +r 4X for $25 at Futureshop in Halifax, NS on Oct. 16th.
So far I have done between 50 and 60 burns with with these disks and I have had only one fail.
I just took it out of the drive and put another in and processed the same file no problems.
If my record with them holds out I should be seeing less than 1% failure. OK in my books for 50 cents a disc.
