I am trying to answer that question myself. I returned both spindles to rima and am waiting on them to receive them. I am trying to decide on what to exchange them for because I don't want to return them again.

I am under the impression the +R's are more consistent, but the write quality is not hardly as good as the G04.

I have not burnt any G05's though, so I don't know if I want to gamble with 100 discs if I don't know what their burn quality will look like.

There is no such thing as a G04 +r. G04's are -r format only. R03 is +r.

A lot of this has to do with your burner. I personally have much better write quality with +r media, much lower PI and PIF errors. Near perfect rip/burns with no freezing, pausing, or pixelating.

Check this KProbe of a G05 disk that I just burned two minutes ago. Burned at 8x.

Using VY06 firmware with a strategy switch on a Sony 700A-UL. The scan is definately not bad for -R media (Lite-ons like +R much better), but I've seen TYs with better scans than this one.

Can't get better than this for nice cheap media.

I'm mostly using +R for my burns, they are working much better. I've used Ritek & Richo coded - My question would be: Are the Ritek 4x +R medio going down to hell like the -R media?

I have started using
Datasafe (PRODISKS03) 4x full face printable (@8x)
Bulkpaq Orange (FUJIFILM03) 8x
Datawrite (CMC MAG AE1) bx printable
as replacements for the now duff G04s and have found these to be very good quality disks
