No PS2 emulators work... so you can't play GTA: SA on your computer. So go buy yourself a PS2 and learn to type proper english while you're at it.

HaHaHa. Slang my ass, you just don't know how to spell and use grammar. You call me a Fob, but you talk like one. I told you already stupid ass. You can't play GTA San Andreas on your computer. So go ask your mommy to buy you a PS2, cause I know you're only 12 years old. You need to go to school instead of trying to play PS2 games on your PC.

Mr.SoLja,
This is your only warning. Clean it up. You post with that kind of language your gone.
Keep in mind, when you spell correctly it helps people understand you better. When you swear, it will just get you banned.

You cannot play a copied game on a ps2 without modifying it.
Q) What modification should I go with?
A) Well, it all depends on the person and their situation, but here's a product description:
Products with a ** require swap discs.
Slide Card**: It is a way to force your tray open without the PS2 knowing, letting you swap discs.
Flip Top**: This is a top cover that you put in place of the original that has a part above the tray that will pop up, allowing you to swap discs.
No Solder Chip**: There are only two available, one for a v4 PS2 and one for v5/6/7 PS2s. This chip ins plugged into 2 places in your PS2 and adds new functionality to the eject button. Holding it for 1-2 seconds until the reset button turns orange will make the tray open for 5-10 seconds, allowing you to swap discs. This method out of the 4 that require swapping is the most inconspicuous.
SBOX: External USB Plug**: These require 1 wire to be soldered in your PS2. Besides the solder, the device needs to be plugged into the USB port on your PS2.
Swap Discs (Swap Magic, Game Shark, Action Replay, etc...): These discs are for use with the above products. They don?t play all backups (in which case you need to go to http://swapmagicfix.com) and can be a hassle when it comes to ease of use.
Solder Chip (Messiah 2, DMS3, Magic V, etc..): All the chips have different features and are recommended on different version, but all the new ones have 1 thing in common, they can direct boot, which means that you do not need to swap any discs before putting in your backups. Since they require upwards of 20 wires to be soldered, there are places that will install them for about $50.
-There are other methods than the ones mentioned above, but these are the main ones that you should chose from, that is, unless you know what you're doing and don't need help from others about your choice.
Now, onto copying the games. The preferred method is to first make an image of the disc, and then burn the image of the disc to blank media.
Most people use DVD Decrypter for making copies. It's a free program that is great for making copies. Although DVD Decrypter supports a lot of the image types, it does not support the .mdf image file. DVD Decrypter creates the .iso image file. That has become the preferred image file format for dvd's. The .mdf image file, however, is made and burned with Alcohol 120%. However, you can convert the .mdf to a .iso image file so that DVD Decrypter will support it.

mr solja.....if you had explained it was for pc. then somebody might have helped you better. cursing to anybody who is helping somebody, is not helping you. but making you obsolete to everybody else. now nobody wants to help you with that attitude. i was helping somebody with the mdf file, and apparently other people here need nelp with Ps2 file for Ps2, not the pc format.

goldgirl.....chances are that file is probably a iso image file. i'm not sure...okay..how i know its done . is to extract the winrar file into another file, once that is done you have to double click on the oo1 file (it should have 001,002,003,004,etc). that will open it up into a another explorer window. pass the curosor over it to see which file it is, it should tell you. if it is a iso image. then drag the file to the desktop..there it will open up the rest of the files. it should start to open up 001,002,003,003,004,etc into that one file. from there use DVD Decrypter, or another iso iamge burner of your choice, and burn it. it may or may not work, some people have trouble with those kind of files, some may not. hopefully you have the luck

Okay, Mr.SoLja. Veeeeery slooowly... so you can understand what I want tp tell you... (^,-)
First, there IS NO PLAYSTATION TWO EMULATOR !
At least no one which can emulate a complete PS2 CPU subsystem (Emotion Engine, Co-CPUs, ...) to be able to run games. The only emulator I know is able to start the boot screen and run some *very* simple demonstration programms. Until the first PS2 emulator appears that is able to run e.g. Ridge Racer 5, you have to accept that the only working SONY-emulators only emulate the first Playstation. And don't tell me that GTA:SA has a PS1 compatible modus build in ;)
The PS2 consists of quite a lot of different CPU architectures, not mentioned the RamBUS RAM connection. A complete PS1 system was build in a single chip to guarantee the PS1 compatibility and the same chip is also used to manage the controller ports.
So, even if you own a 64-Bit 5 GHz machine, you need to wait until some good coders can emulate every single command of the PS2-CPUs in (more or less) realtime INCLUDING the complete PS1 CPU. And that can be a veeeeery long time. Look, we still have no running X-Box emulator, and the X-Box is a crunched down PC (Intel CPU, GeForce GPU, nVidia-Board) ;-)
Second... I only scanned through the postings and was still able to understand WHAT was asked and WHAT was answered. And I am NOT living in an english-speaking country ;) So why is it so difficult to drop your 3L173 language and use normal regular words so that everyone can understand what you want ? ;)
And at last... GTA:SA worked well (on the PS2). You need to convert the .MDF with MagicISO to .ISO and use Alcohol 120% to do the rest. That's all. Strangely the both files have exactly the same size, except the interior of course ;) The guide here is extremely simple but extremely useful. Even you should be able to follow the instructions. Okay, I'm 29, but that doesn't matter ;)
So... burn your image, put it in a PC and look what is saved there. You can't do more with the DVD. Maybe you want to try the flying saucer emulator: open the window, throw the disc out of it and write down the altitude, speed and maybe how the person looked, whose head you hit. But playing this disc on a PC ?? No way. Still not possible, and I AM into emulators ;)

There is no software available to my knowledge that will allow you to read/play PS2 discs on your PC.

Did I understand correctly that i would have to modify my PS2 itself if i wanted to play burnt games? Also I am new to mdf files. If i can get Alcohol 120 to work, will that play an mdf file of a pc game silent hill 4 that i downloaded or will it just let me change it to an iso file that i can burn to a cd and load from that? Also, will Nero work just as well? Thanks for baring with me.

The PS2 have a boot-code, a special boot sector on the DVD/CD that isn't AFAIK possible to copy. I'm not sure, but I think that the boot-sector can be copied with Alcohol or CloneCD, those 1:1 RAW copiers. But I'm not sure. A so called MOD-chip allows you to bypass the boot procedure. Therefore you HAVE to modify the boot procedure. But that's another story.

First. Alcohol is NOT a game, it's a copy-program. It also allows to add virtual drives to the system so you can use the images as if they were mounted in their drives. Not more and not less. It will NOT magically allow you to play pirated games ! If you buy a game and make a copy of it, a so called copy-protection gets in action. You need to bypass the CD-check AND the check for special protections (StarForce, SafeDisc, ...) Most of them will check for corrupt sectors (a RAW copier should copy these) and maybe ALSO for virtual drives or copy-programms.
Just firing up a copy programm is NOT the best solution to play (copied) games, my friend ;)
Quote: Also, will Nero work just as well? Thanks for baring with me.
Is Nero Burning Rom a RAW copier ? CloneCD is one of them. Look in the manual how to copy RAW sectors, and you will find out if it works ;)

datatrek is right...
nrk4594, DVD Decrypter can burn MDF files. You listed .mds as a file supported by DVD Decrypter. The .mds is sort of like the equivalent to .cue for .bin files, but .mds is for .mdf files.
So you don't need to bother converting to ISO... it's just a huge waste of time!
