i found a nice site that sells the new slim tool, the magic switch i bought was rubbish, it lasted nine days, the slimtool i use now much more solid and robust.

hey guys just reading all the stuff on playing backup games,, but u have to remember that when u play a copy that u must have the laser corredtor,,, because for some reason on the new slim line if u don;t u will burn out the laser...

also i have DVD Decrypter and have read in ISO and wite in ISO and have mod chip,, yet it still doen't work,,,it ask to pout corredt ps1 or ps2 format in????????,,,

wats the straw/tape/tissue method i keep hearing about to use on the pstwo is it to compensate 4 the slide tool? and how do i go about puttin it on the sensors?

I didn't look much into the straw and tissue idea. But the tape method works and is simple to do. There are 2 sensors inside the ps2 on the drive side. One is next to the power button; the other is in the far back just to the left of the drive area. I used some duct tape and the sensors have been down for a few months now, no problems.

http://www.slimtool.co.uk sells Slimtools and Swap Magic V3.3 for the new PS2 and is the official retailer for the UK although they do take overseas orders.

I just tried with a PAL version of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle and it didnt work. I would think DVD Region X works.

i did the tape mod after buying the slim tool - works 100% the slim tool was a bit tedious and u have to leave the lid up when playing - use the warranty sticker as a hinge so u dont have to remove it - tape the internal sensor with scotch tape put it back together and stuff some tissue in the tray sensor at left front corner .. the straw method also requires u to leave the lid up - tape only method is better and it works ( whatever u do dont use the super glue method ) i dont care if it worked for a few people - but even if it did work the chemicals in the glue will rot the switch out in no time . that i learned in an electronics class. the other reason is -if the glue spreads to another contact you will have a short - just the same way if get flux from soldering a chip touching another contact. and like others have said i too am staying away from the chips until a better solution comes along for the laser . my bro had one done and it blew in 2 hours - new slim in the box - a great waste of 200 bucks + install and chip , its still too beta right now and i cant afford to particapate - LOL

oh and i should have said that i will be moving away from the tape mod ( not becuase there is anything wrong with it but just for a more professional look -i guess) to the ghost switch - but i only plan on using the cap and not the other part that comes with it and stay with the tissue in the tray ) - provided that i can easily remove it should something go wrong during the warranty period .

What i want to know, is if you can still use cheat discs, like Action replay and Gameshark, while you play your backups with the swap ghost magic crap. It seems as if you can only do one swap (directly to the game). And i hate losing games. I always want to be in control.
