did you get the incd uninstalled?
is dma enabled?
make sure computer is not being interrupted during encoding and burning
i do almost all of my movies "movie only", less compression and i don't care for the special features

OMG, i'm having a lot of problems reading/wrinting with all the media i've tryed so far in the TS-H522B. It can't read some of the dvd-+rw and some files on dvd-r. It even can't read some files recorded on other dvd burners!
I'm going to the store and replace this piece of s***t, by another dvd burner...
this is the end of samsung optical drives to me.

Well, its finally working. Im able to burn good onto the DVD-R's but problem is now I cant play the movie in my dvd player in my living room but it plays fine in my panasonic dvd player.
The one in the living room is Apex. *shrugs*
This is weird, because yesturday when I was having issues trying to burn it onto the dvd, I tried playing the little I had on the cd, and it played on the apex.
Now it wont when its completely burned with no errors. Must be a setting or somethin I did wrong. I dont think I changed anything in the region. I left that at US/Canada.

Desmundho,
I think I had Nero Recode 2 on my Nero OEM software, but I had to uninstall OEM because it didnt come with Nero Burning Rom, and everyone told me to use Burning Rom to burn my dvd's after using Shrink, so *shrugs*

Have you tried diferent media in that recorder. From what i've heard i think the TS-H522B samsung recorder sucks for cheap media, but it records fine on media like TDK and SONY. I'm going to try some PLATINUM DVD DISKS NOW.
So far it doesn't work very well for PRINCO DVD-R, MMORE DVD+RW, INTENSO DVD+R, INTENSO DVD+RW...
I hope that platinum media works better, i'm really tired of this recorder.

taiyo yuden, prodisc, ritek "ridata" to name a few
taiyo yuden is best
use something like dvdinfopro or dvdidentifier to see what ID your discs are and then look here
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
go more by the media code than the brand and watch for fakes, especially taiyo yuden

You know whats so dumb? I have that Maddog Dominator 6n1 burner and someone told me its good to go to the Maddog website and keep my firmware up to date.
lol rofl - The dumb Maddog website does not have firmware for the 6n1 burner, only the 2n1 or 4n1. I was like WTF??
But anyhow, I got it to burn great now with no problems, but now the burnt DVD copy wont play in my apex player, but it will play in my portable Panasonic dvd player. Weird.
What media works well for the Maddog burners??? anyone?

I am having the exact problem as the original thread stated: I can copy a DVD to a +RW, and then have it play in my Apex, however, when i try to do the exact same thing with a -R it will not burn. DVD-R=Sony 8X DVD Burner=Sony 16X Dual Layer +/- R&RW. I'd think sony could burn sony DVDs but i guess not. I even slowed down to 4x (Slow as i can) still nothing. I have +Rs on the way, Memorex (Same brand as the +RW) But can anyone help? I've deleted firmware and updated and still nothing :-/ Thanks, -Matt

GoNuts461,
That is weird. I would think as well that a Sony burner would work well with its OWN media, but who knows. Im just starting to learn all this actually.
But I actually got my problem resolved. What I do is I use DVDshrink, and annalys the movie in FULL, then after it reads the cd, I go to Re-author and copy and paste only the MAIN MOVIE and then I compress it by unchecking the foreign titles, like french, spanish, etc which boosts the quality of the movie tremendously, then I back it up.
After it saves the final result to the hard drive, I use Nero Burning Rom 6.0, choosing DVD video and using any kind of media burning back to the DVD-R at only 2x. Any faster and I get choppy and freeze results when playing back the copy. Not sure if this is normal, but its been the only way Ive been able to get good and excellent results.
Sometimes after it burns and finishes, the DVD copy will play in my Apex burner, sometimes it wont and will only play in my Panasonic portable DVD player, but it doesnt really bother me either way, long as it plays in some of the dvd players me and my relatives have.
Im back using Fugifilm which is bizaar because I was having the MOST problems with Fujifilm media but now it appears the Fujifilm data cds are not functioning correctly now that I changed up how I burn my media and it now plays fine.
Krisp picture and VERY loud audio. Im very impressed with Maddog burners. I HIGHLY recommend anyone getting a burner soon to invest in the Maddog Dominator 6 in 1. Its an excellent burner.

Well i am using DVD Shrink, and also WinAVI to get the main movie; Last night i was able to get a 1.5gb DVD (Compressed) Movie onto the +RW and have it work. *Light Goes On* I can fit another movie onto that DVD. Well it didnt work the way i wanted it to, both the file names are VTS (Video Title Screen) so i assume thats y it's not working. I am now trying a Data Burn of the .VOB files...i'll let ya know if it works. If i can get 2 or 3 movies onto an RW, i might go invest in a 25pk, i've got 220 DivX movies i need to convert ;-) (My 60+ DVD collection got stolen while i was attending a college forum thing so i dont feel bad about pirating anymore) I hope my +Rs come in soon, i want to try them out. -Matt

Yah, +R's are the way to go, really. From what Im learning and hearing, they seem to be the key now a days as most dvd players will read now, most +R's, rather than -R discs.
But in regards to WinAVI, Ive heard of the program but not experienced enough to really give you some help there. Im still considered a newbies at all this burning technique and have been rather comfortable with using DVDShrink and just Nero Burning Rom. I suppose as time goes by and I become more experienced at all this, Ill explore into other applications and compare them how and which one works the best for the Maddog Dominator burners, but for now, Im sticking to Shrink lol
