Shrink will only shrink it at one speed....so that is not an issue, what you could do though is only burn it at 2x or 4x, and I say it again, your media is not the best, and I know you can't afford to get better ones yet, but I'm certain that will be the end to all your troubles when you do get some good stuff.
Don't forget to put Decrypters settings back to 'file'
once you finish burning with it, ready for your next rip.
Well that's good news then, I had better do some work before I am fired.
Good luck.

I don't know why you guys are saying that Memorex media is not good quality.

I bought a pack of Memorex +R 8x blanks and have not had one go bad yet.

I do have a BenQ burner, which is a pretty good drive.

I like Imation disks, I used to use them awhile back, but I would not say they are better media than Memorex.

I burn at 8x using Memorex 8x media. Works just great. No problems with the video.

But here is one thing you can try though. Instead of ripping a DVD to an ISO image, just rip it to the file format. After you are done doing whatever you need to do to the file set, use Nero to burn it.

Burn it at full speed, but when it is burning, checkmark "VERIFY" at the bottom. After it is done burning it will verify the files with the originals on your hard drive.

Doing it that way can atleast tell you if there are any errors during the burning process. So if it burns and verify's just fine, then you can rule out that part of the equation then.

From personal experience, I cannot say that certain media have shown themselves to be superior as of yet. I have burned about a dozen Memorex DVD's, a few E-Gear, some Verbatim and some Philips. I also bought a pack of Sony and TDK recently but have yet to put them to work.

I think the intangibles could be more important to the final burn than the media itself but I reserve the right to reverse that vantage point at a later time if neccessary. ;-)

I burn at 4x a majority of the time and have had no problems there, but occasionally I'll go 8x if the DVD allows. I have also successfully burned two dual layer DVD's, Verbatim brand. You definitely do not want to mess with those until you have the utmost confidence in your burning skill because at ten dollars a pop, they can drain your wallet fast.

At any rate, good luck with your burning and be sure to share all your positive and negative experiences with us! Always great to hear people getting excited about learning and subsequently applying that knowledge in a productive manner. Take care and have a great day!
