I ripped/burn "The Forgotten" and "The Grudge" both from SONY.
I used DVD Decrypter to rip(ISO mode, file mode didnt work for Grudge) + DVD Shrink to shrink + Nero to burn...
But i ran into several probs as i stated in other threads.
Till now i dont know for what reason i managed to copy them.
About the best solution to back the new SONY movies, i think there is no common strategy...since what work for some, doesnt work for others.
I sincerely hope DVDShrink team will fix this soon.
Its a great software and i would like to keep using it.

PS.
At both cases i had to re-author.

Using ANYDVD 4.5.5.1 solved this for me. Works great.

I see a couple of people who have answered this thread that have had no problems at all using the updated version of Anydvd and Shrink to copy these movies.

I will give the same answer: Using Anydvd and Shrink, I haven't had a single problem. Download Anydvd from www.slysoft.com and install it. Then it runs in the background whenever u bootup. All you have to do is open Shrink like normal and it doesn't take longer or anything else.

I don't know what you're missing but I burned all these so-called hard to burn movies.
Step 1:Copy to hard drive(ISO mode) using DVD Decrypter (New Version inserts dummy sectors).
Step 2: Mount image using Daemon Tools.
Step 3:Shrink with DVD Shrink
Step 4:Burn with DVD Decrypter

I've made prefect copies of every movie I hear people having trouble with. They play in all my DVD players.
Remeber to keep your hd clean and defraged also ad-aware keeps junk of your pc too..all can be found on the internet....Hope this helps out

I tried using the new decrypter and DVD Shrink and all I got was a dvd full of previews and crap. I have had much success with these 2 programs but not when trying to burn The Forgotten. Help please.

If at first it doesn't burn, try, try, again.

I had success with latest DvdDecrypter>file mode then DvdShrink to remove unwanted stuff and/or compress, then burn to disc. Shrink doesn't like the new Sony encryption.

Using both the lastest version of DVD Decrypter and also DVD Shrink, you will get a successful burn of the Forgotten along with both versions on one DVD-5. Try it with removing only the foreign audio and custom compression on the menus and extras, leaving the movie alone. Try using backup and use files instead of ISO this time.
