Ok, this doesn't make any sense at all. I do backup my own movies but isn't an invasion of privacy when information is sent from your computer? It's like "hey we are going to bust you for backing up dvds that aren't yours", "but hey how in the hell did you know?" "your computer is a spy out to destroy you and we are just happening to be downloading everything about what your computer is doing."
If Blockbuster is going to such extremes as that, then that explains why they are losing so much money. Hollywood Video rents out the dvds and afterwhile they put it out for sale leaving a few to be sent out to other stores.

You guys are gonna feel bad when you see a story in the newspaper about someone burning down thier house trying to microwave a dvd-r. It's only funny until someone gets hurt - then it hilarious.

your sick man. but who in their right mine would leave a dvd in the microwave. lets review the stages:
1) Let me put this dvd in my microwave
2) Wow look at the sparks
3) Wow its melting, it's never done that before
4) The microwave is starting to shake but im busy eating
5) My house on fire, how do i explain this?

Am I missing something? Not sure why this hasn't been mentioned yet, but the most tried and true method of deactivating the embedded chips in DVDs is a good old fashioned dousing of urine, due to the pH balance and specific organic proteins that invade the microscopic crevices of the circuitry and cook the chip. Similar to the way seafood is cooked in ceviche. Forget that microwave business! A golden shower might be a little more icky but at least you don't run the risk of causing a fire. As a side note, this method works well for the copy protection chip inside the DVD drive...the one that reports all your activites to the authorities. But since fitting your swizzle stick into the tray is pretty difficult, save for we unfortunate few, the cleanest and most effective method is using a q-tip to perform the application. Here to help.

yeardley, didn't you read my post "i hate to say this "BUT YOUR ON CANDID CAMERA!!!!!!" don't do what we told you for the past 4hrs as you might burn the house down or fry the microwave. the microwave should have been the clue we were shit disturbing as you don't put metal & a disk has metal coating on it into a microwave oven."

So back to the subject the bottom line is that all of you are ILLEGALY backing up your dvds because its illegal even if you actually own it. So anyone with any type of backed up DVD is already breaking the law and going to get caught??????????
