It was said a while back that the slim tools where hazardous to your systems health i dunno but i remember in the early days when i was in your position and i was looking in what to get ppl said that fliptop is the only way the other tool does damage to your system or disk something like that, but you can take the chance but dont say i didnt warn you.

no reason why slimtool or similar product will damage ps2 in any way.
this is all that is done.
1. a little piece of tape to stick the switch at bottom right of ps2 down
2. a little wad of tape to hold the disc brake in place
3. a plastic drinking straw to hit the sensor near middle top of ps2
there is no reason why that will damage your ps2 in any way
but thanks for the warning, i will recheck what can possibly happen

you can get your ps2 modded, and no it wont harm your slim ps2, as long as you install the modchip correctly. If you dont install your modchip correctly, you can permanently damage your ps2. The best modchip is the dms4 lite or pro version. lite is what i recommend because it is cheaper. All that lite version lacks is a little... well i forgot, its nothing much. check out their website ad http://www.dms3.com they have the ultimate ps2 modchip!

I know Mercenaries needs to be rebuilt to work properly, but after a proper rebuild, it works perfectly. Not really sure about the others though.

Mercenaries only needs rebuilding if you're using Swap Magic. It don't need rebuilding if your PS2 is chipped.

yah, but he said he couldn't get it to work with his SwapMagic, so he has to rebuild it if he didn't try to.

DMS4 Pro with ToxicOS all the way! Just had my PS2 slim installed with this chip and so far it works flawlessly. It's a little pricey compared with other mod chips, but worth every penny. Do make sure you get a professional to install it! Heard Team Toxic is working on a new OS that will even support DVD9 dual layer game like GT4, so definitely get the DMS4.

got my ps2 back today:) very happy person now everything is working including gt4(wich i bought from a world famous market in glasgow),chip is dms4:)
Anyone with a slim ps2 trade it for an old fat one, then there is no need to rebuild hundreds of stuff and use swap disc, cogloaders ect.
Took mine to a shop and they did me a straight swap slim for fat................happy,happy,happy days.
mg3 and tekken 5 rock gt4 is brill but very hard lol
