I also have God_of_War_USA_PS2DVD5_PROPER-ConFuSiON but everytime I get to Pandoras Temple (level 9 I think) and I cross the ropebridge the game just keeps loading forever. If I try to save right before the bridge it also keeps loading the save screen forever.
Stupidget, or someone, how did u get it to work?
When I burned the DVD i used DVDecrypter, should I have used some other program?
Please help me.

Hey,
Not sure if these questions has been answered before.
I made a god of war copy from an iso i downloaded of the internet (torrentspy.com). Made into a dvd using decrypter.
1. While I am playing sometimes my PS2 will make noises (laser?) Why is that so? What do I need to do to correct this?
2. The game does not run smoothly all the time. In the video clips it will sometimes move in slow motion. How come?
3. While I was playing I reached Pandoras Temple and the game started to Load and it just got stuck there. If i try and save it before it freezes! Help me!
Is it the copy? is it the iso I downloaded? Do I need to use this Sonix tool to fix it?
How can I make a good burn from the ISO I downloaded.
Can someone please help or point me to the page with the answer?
Thnx

OK guys i have tried this three times, (2 coasters!) and many 2 and 3am nights to get this GOW rip done but finally got it to work all the way thru and no freezing, this may help.
Programs needed
DVD decrypter
Sonix gow fix
Apache 2.0
sony cd/dvd generator 1.5
using windows xp pro
make iso of gow DVD9 using DVD Decrypter (ISO read setting)
this will make 3 files an MDS and two ISO
Open appache 2.0
Click file -> open iso
Then browse for the iso of the DVD9 of gow (file 000)open it
High light all the files in the right window, right click and extract all to a folder (ill use c:\gowfix)
Then after layer 0 is done extracting right click the root file (little god of war disc in the left window) and switch layers.
highlight the pac 2 file, right click and extract it to the same folder.
Once the extraction is done download the sonix GOW tool and extract it to the same folder.
Run the tool
In the open file part browse for the C:\gow fix\GODOFWAR.TOC
Then click extract
The program will extract the files you need into a extract folder (C:\gow fix\extract)
right click on the extract folder and search for *.psw files, delete them all
right click on the extract folder and search for bonus files, delete them all (they will all be PSS files)
Now we need to rebuild the toc file
Open the sonix gow tool and open file the GODOFWAR.TOC file again,
Now click rebuild
?After a while the relink screen will popup.
first, click the 'Auto-Relink Dupes' button and that will take care of most of the relinking.
the rest of relinking needs to be done manually.
Relink all the *.PSW files to their *.PSS counterparts, e.g.
relink left window A01P01.PSW to A01P01.PSS in the right window
after you have relinked all those you will be left with bonus pss files in the left window. Relink all the missing BONUS*.PSS files to any available PSS file in the right window.
Once all files are relinked you will get a "relink and rebuild complete" window.
you can close the tool.
You will now have 2 new files in the game folder:
GODOFWAR.TOC_NEW
PART1.PAK_NEW
Delete the original PART1.PAK, PART2.PAK and GODOFWAR.TOC files and rename the new files to remove the _NEW from their names. Delete the 'Extracted' folder.
Open Sony CD GEN
click new project
then
DVDROM Master Disc.
Under the VOLUME tab for Disc Name use SCUS 97399 or whatever file you have. NTSC disc & PAL discs will have a different file order and volume name such as scse / SCUS etc. check your files for the correct volume name for these files.
VOLUME TAB YOUR BOXES SHOULD BE LIKE THIS...
disk name: SLES(or whatever you have) 45677(or whatever you have)
do not put in the full stop for the number IE
45677 not 45.677
ON THE RIGHT IT SAYS PRODUCER NAME. HERE WRITE PLAYSTATION THEN SELECT YOUR LICENSE AREA, MINE IS EUROPE (PAL). IF YOUR GAME IS NTSC PUT AMERICA... LEAVE ALL THE OTHER BOXES BLANK.
then under Directory tab put these files in this order
Important!!!!! open original game disc iso disc image to work out the order to put files in DVDgen
The below is correct for an NTSC disc but not a PAL disc
ISO rebuild order
System.cnf
Scus_973.99
Ioprp300.img
Sio2man.irx
Dbcman.irx
Sio2d.irx
Mc2_s1.irx
Ds10.irx
Mc2_d.irx
Ds2u_d.irx
Libsd.irx
989nomid.irx
Smpd_iop.irx
Godofwar.toc
Part1.pak
CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!
THE FILES MUST BE IN THE SAME ORDER THEY WERE IN in the original ISO (open in it in APACHE to check). not putting the files in order is how I got my coasters!!!
Drag the files from your folder into the directory
E.G IF "SYSTEM" IS AT THE TOP DRAG IT IN FIRST ETC.
AGAIN if your not sure open your original ISO in apache and check the file order then double check it!!!!
then once all that is done, click rec... and it will give u 2 errors, (my machine gave three errors but CDDVD GEN still worked oK) just click ok and then a new window will pop up (recording unit controller) click file, then export image, choose the name of the file (GODOFWARFINAL) and place to save then click ok. it will start "image creating"
after this is done, you will have four files GODOFWARFINAL 0 /1 / 2 3 we have to merge the files together into one iso file.
OPEN APACHE 2 AND CLICK FILE, IMPORT IML. FIND YOUR GODOFWARFINAL IML AND CLICK OK. A LIST OF YOUR FILES WILL COME UP. AGAIN CLICK FILE, THEN BUILD ISO. THIS WILL BUILD YOUR FINAL ISO.
if apache 2 wont work your files are probably corrupt or try to DOWNLOAD APACHE 3 PREVIEW |(INCLUDED IN THE GRAN TURISMO 4 RIPKIT) FROM BACKUPTOOLS.CO.UK this may work better with some machines,(I had no problems with apache 2 it worked fine for me)
THE FINISH LINE
ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR FINISHED ISO, OPEN UP DVD Decrypter AND CLICK MODE ISO WRITE. SELECT THE FILE YOU MADE AND BURN AT THE LOWEST SPEED FOR BEST PERFORMANCE. INSERT YOU BLANC DVD-R. DVD-R IS THE ONLY TYPE OF MEDIA THAT WILL WORK*. THEN CLICK THE ICON.
PLEASE NOTE I used Nero TO BURN with TDK DVD+R 8X burned at 4X speed WORKS FINE!!!! but always burn at the slowest speed possible.
check the "official God of war" thread and the "how to copy and burn a ps2 game" thread for more info if the above doesnt make sense. but it worked for me and the game doesnt freeze
Please note if you stuff up a step in this (like clicking rebuild instead of extract on the GOW tool) START FROM THE BEGINNING as you will just end up with coasters.
Signing off at 4.30 am with a working GOW copy... stoked!!!

Coasters = DVD Rs that dont work once you have burnt them. the only thing they are good for is putting your drinks on (yep those things that you put your drinks on are called coasters. ANYHOO
tried twice to backup GOW and got two coasters before succeding on my third try.
first time i put the files in the order that Sonix and Jizmaks guide advised. the game froze at pandoras temple. second time i clicked extract instead of rebuild on the sonix GOW tool, even though I cancelled and clicked the right button after about 3 seconds, the game didnt work at all.
best thing to do is when you open your original DVD Decrypter game ISO with apache, write down the order of the files. make sure you get them in the right order when opening DVD gen and loading the files in the directory. ALSO if you stuff up a step START AGAIN, its better than going thru the whole 4 - 5 hour process and ending up with more placesto put those beer glasses.

I didnt download the game i backed up an original copy, (the download may be corrupt!) in reality i did get one other coaster, a direct copy on a DL DVD +R. apparently even chipped playstations cant read DL DVDR.
Usually works ok to backup single layer and CD based PS2 games by simple copy disc method on Nero.
on my GOW backup the files are in this order
System.cnf
Ioprp300.img
Sio2man.irx
Dbcman.irx
Sio2d.irx
Mc2_s1.irx
Ds10.irx
Mc2_d.irx
Ds2u_d.irx
Libsd.irx
989nomid.irx
Smpd_iop.irx
Godofwar.toc
Part1.pak
Sces_53133
like I say check your original ISO game file order.

and PPS the game will freeze at pandoras temple if the original rip didnt have the pak 1 AND pak 2 file in it, half the game is missing.
once all the bonus files are deleted and the pss files relinked you have to rebuild the table of contents (TOC) with sonix gow tool which reduces it all to a smaller pak 1 file. looks like your download was ripped without the pak 2 file.

Hey Everyone
I just recently made a straight 1 to 1 copy of God Of War from the original, on a dual layer DVD+R with a dual layer burner, the game loads up and plays fine up until a section in the desert where you go to cross this big rope bridge then it just stops and says loading and goes no further (I know this becuase I went away for an hour and it was still there "loading")
Im thinking that this is about half way through the game so therefore the first layer. My theory is that a ps2 doesnt know how to switch to the second layer so it just stops there says "loading" and goes no further (Does any1 know of a way to trick the ps2 into loading the second layer)
Has anyone else had this type of trouble ( I know others have had trouble with their game freezing at this point but wasnt that with a single layer DVD and not just copied 1 to 1 from the original game??) If any1 knows how to fix this and if my theory is possible ,any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

the pak 2 file (2nd layer) is definitely the part of the game past pandoras temple so your PS2 cant read the second layer on the DL burnt copy

HI
I have been trying to copy and make GOD of war for at least a week now.
First I downloaded 3.6 GBiso from the internet. It worked fine untill it reached pandoras temple where it froze. People were telling me is because I didnt manage to burn the whole game (part1 and part2) on the dvd, and I need to do it from a DVD9.
Anyways I found DVD9.rar (6.3GB)on the internet, downloaded it unzipped it (7.4GB).
It gave me 5 files
wrx-godow.gi 2KB
wrx-godow(11).gi 2,097,120KB
wrx-godow(12).gi 2,097,120KB
wrx-godow(13).gi 2,097,120KB
wrx-godow(14).gi 1,539,328KB
I use Isobuster and open the first file making an image file with the following:
SYSTEM.CNF
IOPRP300.IMG
SIO2MAN.IRX
DBCMAN.IRX
SIO2D.IRX
MC2_S1.IRX
DS10_S1.IRX
MC2_D.IRX
DS2U_D.IRX
LIBSD.IRX
989NOMID.IRX
SMPD_IOP.IRX
GODOFWAR.TOC
PART1.PAK
SCES_531.33
This wrx-godow(11).gi showed the same files with iso buster.
The wrx-godow(12).gi 13 and 14 just show a CD named Track.1
oK NOW WHAT do I do now? Please I need help. I am fed up. What Do i do from now on? Shouldnt there be a PART2.PAK?????
Please don't tell me to burn it in such a way that it freezes again at Pandoras temple.
Please someone who has managed to burn it FROM A DOWNLOADED version and play it fluidly help me.
Please please please.
If there is no way then i guess i might as well buy it.
Thanks for the help!
PS: Sorry for annoying you with all my post is just I really want to finish this, and want to learn how to do it properly than the easy and expensier solution=buying it!

Hi apollon,
I can confirm the loud laser noises with the God of War Proper Confusion release.
I did nothing else but extracted the iso image with WinRAR and then burned the iso with Nero (at the time the newest version) on a Verbatim DVD-R 8x printable Jewel Case @ 4x.
I have a V7 PS2 (Model: 39004) with an Matrix Infinity modchip.
When I reached Pandoras Temple, I have encountered crazy loading times (more than 7 minutes) but the game didn't stuck.
Heard the problems occur because Cnfusion have badly relinked some files, so the laser goes mad...
Possible Solutions:
- Get the full DVD (internal) release from XWAR and use Sonix Tools&Tutorial_v3 (I can send it to you)
- heard games with a high Toc run better when burned on a DVD+R (not tested by myself yet - will get a few Verbatim DVD+Rs later)
- If you can't find the XWAR release, you could rent the game (I live in PAL land and there are no rentals with NTSC versions, which I always prefer). God of War is censored here anyway
http://www.blockbuster.com/search/PerformKeyWordSearchAction.action
I will report back later, if the Confusion release runs better when burned on a DVD+R
Bye

Hi,
grabbed a few Verbatim DVD+R 16x Jewel Case (Media Code MCC 004).
The game runs perfectly now ( burned @ 8x with Nero - don't forget the bitsetting to DVD-ROM ).
In fact it runs so good (no lockups, no loud noises from the laser anymore), that I thought it has to be the DVD+R I used, till I burned the iso again on a Verbatim DVD-R 16x @ 8x with the same outcome.
So you don't have to use DVD+Rs, DVD-Rs are fine too, but you have to rebuild the iso.
Confusion messed up the file order, that's why the game doesn't run smoothly.
Look at the position of the files:
Rebuild: (smallest number first...largest number last)
Original God of War Proper Confusion iso (extracted with WinRAR):
look how messed up the file order is
It seems that they do that with all their releases, here is the file order of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 PAL Confusion:
If you still need help, I can send you the God of War Tutorial_v3 from Sonix. He has explained the rebuilding process very detailed.
Bye

If everything else fails then I guess I might as well rent it from blockbusters ( I live in the UK).
Again Thank you so much
