I had the same problems with AnyDVD and also CloneDVD2, which I have been using since back in April. Five months of great copies now failure after failure. Program always says burn successful. When I try to view the dvd just copied, it is scrambled, sometimes even freezes. I email slysoft for support with a copy of my log and they told me I was using cheap media or a cheap burner. I have used several types before and they all worked, over 200 copies. Last time support told me to upgrade my firmware, I tried that and it realy screwed things up. Thank goodness I had a backup copy of old firmware.
After all of this I decided to try DVDFAB Decrypter with Nero 6. something, well whatta you know, perfect backup copy of my movie. I tried to make a few more copies. 7 to be exact and all 7 turned out perfect.
So now I have a question? Everytime someone has a problem with burning, seems like the answer usually is > your using cheap media! Cheap Media is Cheap Media! Ok, for mine and anyone else who seems to be wondering, what brands would the experts call GOOD MEDIA?
@jim3000gt -
those are categorically symptoms of too high a burn speed, and/or crap media. Period.
i've used something like 1500 8x Verbatim, mostly -R but +R too. I've used 100 genuine Taiyo Yuden (TY) discs too but i am a Verbatim datalifeplus man thru and thru.
i don't use merely decent discs, but only top notch stuff such as Verbatim as previously i bought/used about 500 Bulkpaq Orange 8x discs (mostly burnt at 4x) without burn errors/playback errors. Then i had loads of problems and now i have really bad problems with even playing back those Bulkpaq's, never mind re-copying them. That experience pushed me to start my own thread - the 1st link in my signature...
My point is that one of the traits of crap media is that's inconsistent
So maybe I have a bad batch that I just bought your saying? What about the fact that I can make a perfect copy using DVDFAB along with Nero, Im using the same media as with AnyDVD and CloneDVD2? Maybe AnyDVD and Clone do not agree with my media is what your saying right?
By the way, thanks for the reply:)
If your backup freezes, stutters, skips, or has some pixelation, it is more than likely due to poor quality media being used. Cheap media is poorly manufactured around the edge of the disc, hence the reason why it mostly skips or freezes from the middle toward the end of the movie. The two main things to consider first are:
1. Is it cheap media that you are using? (ie. some off brand you bought at a local computer store/fair, even a store like Circuit City or Best Buy sells cheap low quality media.)
2. How fast are you burning? - Burn no faster than 4X, might have to go down to 2X with really cheap media.
Open DVD Shrink. Click "Edit", then "Preferences". On the first tab at the top in the drop down box, change it from "DVD-5 (4.7GB) to "Custom" and enter a number of 4200MB (4464MB is burning to the edge of the disc, you want to stay away from the edge as the edge of cheap media (disc's) are poorly manufactured).
