dvdrs arent about speed but more about quality.the speed rating of a disc is how fast you can write to it.if a disc has a higher speed rating doesnt mean it is a better disc.you would choose disc that would work best with your drive.since you wouldnt know this without trying the discs first it is usually a trial and error kind of thing.you usually want advice from people who have the same drive as you and the dvdrs they used.i have a sony dvd writer and have used sony,maxell,and verbatim dvd+rs and all have worked good with sony dvdrs being the best.if your drive is so picky that only certain brands work on it then you should think about getting a new drive.most drives burn better to certain brands but that doesnt mean the other brands wont work at all.

@kjkiller

do you have a backup option or disc copy option on your record now?if so try that.make a direct copy of the game that way.if the game is under 4.3gb it should work.burn at 2x or 1x speed.

ive never used a patch(?)but try Nero <--click on this link to download demo version.and download iso buster(dont have link).you could use magic iso and different programs instead of iso buster(basically any program that lets you open up an iso image and extract the game files)

when you get those programs i could tell you how to extract the game(it usually decreases the size of games) then copy it.every game that people say needs a patch i copied this way (except a few exceptions).i dont know if the version of swap magic comes into play with patching(i use 3.3).but youll learn a new way to copy games and that aint too bad.

well first you would make an iso image of the game with decrypter(i forgot to mention that).

1.open upmagic iso and then select your iso image to open up.
2.make a folder on the hard drive you are going to extract the files to and label it whatever you want.
3.then go back to magic iso and select all the game files(dont open folders and select files just select the whole folder) in the iso directory from your iso image.usually you would highlight one file then go to another file and hold down the control(ctr)button while selecting(highlighting) the others.
4.right click on all the highlighted files and folders and select extact from the menu.then select the folder you created to extract the files to.then wait til they are extracted.
5.when that is finished open up nero <--again you can download demo version here.you need to select the toggle between standard and advanced icon at the bottom of the nero menu.then you can select the format (dvd or cd) at the top of the menu.than you would select data icon and go down to udf/iso dvd option and click on that.
6.with udf/iso open on nero you would open up the folder from your hard drive that has the extracted game files.and then open up magic iso and minimize all the programs so you can see them all on your screen.
7.start clicking on the extracted files one by one and dragging them into the empty column(second from the left)next to the file browser.use magic iso as a reference to the file order you would drag them into nero(the top file in magic iso would be #1 on down.nero will rearrange the files in alphabetical order but you still need to put them into nero in the same order as in magic iso.when done go to the column all the way on the left and right click on the name(usually says new) and rename it(i name it the same as my iso image name).
8.now click on the burn the current compilation icon from the nero toolbar.select burn speed then select burn.then select burn with no multisession and wait for it to burn.(dont forget to put in a blank disc in before you burn)

its not as complicated as i sounds,i was trying to explain everything thoroughly.you could use any burn program that has an udf/iso option to burn the disc,but nero is the only one i know of that has this option.if you have any problems let me know.
