Nexxtech is a circuit city house brand. (i work at circuit city). nexxtech used to be affilated with radio shack canada. at least thats what they tell me, if it is true i dont have a clue. they also make a bunch of crap that we call "cool gadgets". like pens with lasers, shower clocks, talking picture frames, and other random junk. i received a 25 pk of nexxtech dvd-r's as i won a store contest. they went straight to the trash can when i got home. these are horrible media

My two pennies worth ;c)
I have two lots of discs here at the moment , first is Verbatim w/ Taiyo Yuden dye x8 DVD-R (id code: TYG02) & second spindle is Taiyo Yuden silver top x8 DVD-R (id code: TYG02)
If you want your discs (to always) work , use the best media.

Well, I was at CC looking at something else and saw them on an endcap. I figured $10 for a 50 pack, I would give them a try. I bought them expecting the worse. I picked up a DVD+R pack and they code out as AML 002. I haven't burned one yet. I normally only buy premium grade stuff, but was willing to take a gamble.
Shovels Rule!

Too bad you didn't luck out and get the mcc's olamite got. Nexxtech's aml's don't get good ratings (haven't used them myself). You can always trash them for that price. Don't think I burn anything I wanted to keep on them though - imo.

right before the holidays i bought a dvd burner for my computer.so then i was shopping around for the cheapest blank dvd discs.i found them at circuit city on sale for $5.99 for a 50 spindle of DVD+R or DVD-R,they were these nexxtech discs.this was the friday after thanxgiving, you know the biggest shopping day if the year,so there was hella good sales everywhere.anyway i bought 4 spindles of these and i had alot of coasters and really crappy playback with these.i wouldnt by them at all, theres a reason why there so cheap.

While I absolutley agree that one should trust MXL, TY, MCC and Sony coded discs for precious data not every other disc is rubbish.
I have LG burners and I have had excellent success with LG coded discs (LGE04 and LGE08). I have burnt over 150 of them and not one coaster. As I got burnt with Princo and Ritek before I retest random discs for degredation. These LG discs have stayed constant. But then I have an LG burner so maybe their firmware support is better for their own discs.
I have also used INFODISC-R20 discs and again they have been excellent. Also 4x and 8x Gigastorage discs have proven to be good.
I was given a made in Hong Kong Infosmart disc that still works over 2 years later. Now I will stay away from Made in Hong Kong discs and don't buy any.
Some of these lesser brands such as Gigastorage, LG, Infodisc, Leaddata, Optodisc etc I wonder how much of the bad burns are attributed to poor disc quality v's poor firmware support?
The new LG GSA-4167B burns TYG01's very badly. Now this is absolutley Firmware not the discs. So if they can get it wrong with TY they sure as hell can get it wrong with say gigastorage.
My main concern with discs is dye rot. Discs that burn great, play great but are unreadable after 6 months.
This seems to be a Princo, CMC, BeAll and Ritek issue.
