my bad, i hadn't actually asked you to download dvdinfopro earlier up the page.

we've got your firmware up to date now. This is what teaches your burner about media types/newer media/burn speeds. For instance if your firmware is real old and you buy brand new discs the burner more than likely doesn't know what to do with them.

dvdinfopro does various things, but what i'm after is you to run one of those problematic CD's thru dvdinfopro's media info check, and paste the results here. we need to determine if those discs are any good or utter rubbish, ie are they what's causing the problem. You see it's a process of elimination, we got the firmware up to date, i guess next it's the discs to be checked.

I dont think the discs are bad. I copied a disc then I wanted to make another copy and it wouldn't work. I also have three types of blank dics imation cdr, verbatim cdr, and Hewlett packard cdrw. I have tryed all three and my friend even bought over some of his blank discs and none worked.

well the next thing to do is either try your drive in your mate's pc, it could even be that your burner is knackered..

there's only so much i or anyone else can suggest though...

short of the crappy burning program in Windows XP being the culprit, ie a setting isn't working or something, it could be that your burner is not working. maybe you could get your mate to plug your burner into his PC to see if it works there.

I'll try something. This happened to my old pc and then one day when I turned it on and it worked again. I dont know what the heck happened. I burn cds then it just stops. Might be something blocking it. Mabe I should uninstall the driver. Then reinstall it. Do you think that would be a good idea?
