The only thing I can figure is that both benq and phillips are made by the same company. You can flash phillips drives with benq f/w and could possibly even do it with the HP 630c.
marg19540,
You can booktype dvd+r media to dvd-rom useing dvd decrypter. Open dvdd then click on the tools tab then click drive and then change booktype. Click on benq then after change for in the dropdown menu click on drive (dvd+r media). After new setting in the dropdown menu click on dvd-rom. Click change then ok. You can verify that booktype is dvd-rom after the burn useing this free proggy. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ Note, you can oly change booktype on dvd+r/rw media.
IMO nero is some of the best burning software out there and I recommend it since you will probably eventually need a burning proggy to burn something other than IFO's. I would try to find nero 6 suite 3 oem. It is a whole bunch cheaper than nero 6 ultra and has everything you need for burning dvd's and cd's including nero recode 2 (which is similiar to and better IMO to/than dvd shrink and was wrote by mr dvd shrink. He works for nero now). Nero 6 suite 3 oem is the only oem vs to include recode 2. nero 6 suite 1 & 2 oem do not include recode 2 only the burning rom. Here's one link and example. http://www.coolerexpress.com/ne63oemsucdb.html $8.00 pretty good huh. You can also change booktype with nero 6.
