I bought this recorder and took it back to Bestbuy. I have done a lot of off air recording such as the SCIFI channel in 4 hour mode. The Sony did not come close to quality that a Phillips, Panasonic and a Liteon do. The picture was weak and had a lot of spidering and blocking in fast changing scenes. Maybe it was just a bad one but I took it back. That was a month ago and just today I counted 4 open box units which means other were not satisfied too.
