Your drive may be the A07, and not the OEM 107D

Use this firmware instead...

Using the 107D firmware:
Quote:
you need to extract 2 files from the firmware exe file you downloaded -

Extract the 2 files and delete the Pioneer upgrade exe file. You will be left with 2 files.

Download DVRupdate 0.9 from
http://www.dvd-recordable.org/wwwim...date%20v0.9.zip

Extract DVRupdate 0.9.exe to the same folder as the 2 files above.

Run DVRupdate 0.9 and do the following:
1) Select your drive from the 'Device' drop down box
2) Select the Kernel file by clicking the folder icon to the right of the 'Kernel' field. The correct file will automatically be selected if you have run DVRupdate from the same folder as the 2 files.
3) Select the Normal file by clicking the folder icon to the right of the 'Normal' field. The correct file will automatically be selected if you have run DVRupdate from the same folder as the 2 files.
4) Click 'Start'
The operation takes about a minute. Exit DVRupdate.

Reboot.

The DVRupdate 0.9 link doesnt work. :(

Ok, I did extract the files from the DVR107D_FW121.exe file and I got these 2 files.

Should I delete the UPGDVD.exe file? But then I'm only left with 1 file.

Try DVRFlash... Instructions are in the zip package...
http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Downloads+index-req-viewdownloaddet...

Re-download the 107D firmware. You are missing a file. The UPGDVD.exe is the file that should be deleted because it will be replaced by DVRFlash.

That's it. Now unzip DVRFlash to the same folder. Then, just follow the instructions included with DVRFlash...

Ok, should my folder look like this now? I wasn't sure whether I should get the DVRFlash.exe file from the DOS or the Win32 file. Maybe it doesnt even matter which one.

And then I guess I click on the DVRFlash.exe file and a DOS window will pop up? Then I type this: DVRFlash -vf E: R5100004.133 R5100104.133

E is my DVR-drive letter. Do I need to change any of those numbers or anything?

may i add too, when you do your flash, don't multi-task and shut down all other applications and make sure you don't shut off power or god forbid, do it during a thunder storm and power goes out, you will fry your drive !

Ok, thanks gear79. How long does it take to do the flash?

And since the DOS window when I click DVRFlash.exe won't stay up, can I just open a blank DOS window and type it in? If so, how do I open a DOS window?

Here, try this one. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1754 1.21 is the most current but you might have to update with one in between since yours is so old. Try the 1.21 first though unless yours is that medion oem then you need 1.20. Read the page and follow directions closely.

Ok, I downloaded that file and unzipped but it has this file UPGDVD.exe in it. I thought I was supposed to delete that one and use DVRFlash.exe. And I can't find any instructions on that page you gave me. And I'm afraid if I do anything at all wrong it will mess up my computer.

I don't have a pioneer drive. Maybe somebody in this thread does. My drives are a sinch to flash. Maybe pioneers are different. You can look or post here for more help and support. They have sub forums for different makes of drives. http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=87

Hey, bamimami. Same scenario... You can delete the UPGDVD.exe and flash with DVRFlash or flash with the stock flasher(UPGDVD.exe). The difference is the stock flasher will only flash stock firmware and DVRFlash will flash "hacked" firmware... Mort81 is right; you might need a "go between" since your FW is so old...

Sorry, my internet wasnt working right. Thats why I didnt reply sooner. Nope, it wasn't succcessful. Everything I tried it said "Available Target Is Not Found". But I tried a new DVD burning program and at least I can burn DVD's now. But I still can't get the firmware updated.
