I've tried several copy programs and not one will read xbox .xbe files. the only way to copy is to master FTP. I am still having problems but once you get it going you can copy from the Xbox to your PC CD-RW.
The X-BIT is an easy chip to install if you want to spend the $60-$70

After your xbox is modded you will need A program to connect your xbox to your pc for FTP purposes. FLASH FXP works the best and is designed to transfer xbox files. download it install it use it to transfer your games files from your xbox folder then you can backup your games using record now max making a data disk and theres no need to make a iso. you will need to network your pc and xbox with a cat 5 cross over cable or a straight cable if youre using a hub. If all that is alien to you search and read more about networking your pc and xbox at xbox-scene do a search for networking and you will find everything you need.
hope that helps

The only way to copy XBOX games from the original disk is to FTP the files from the XBOX DVD-Rom drive. Once you have done that, you are home free. There is no other way to do it.

It's all here cpu. Do you have the time and the patience. It's easy for me to say, because I have all the time in the world, and I am not the least bit interested in xbox games, the challenge, which eluded me with PS2, is what I am interested in. Deb, you nearly got there, keep going, I am nearly there, and like a dog with a bone I won't give up

It's ironic that this particular subject is continued, because of Greg3000's attempt to help, and the ridicule he sustained, by DJGEOJOE and Deb

Is it possible to take the xbox dvd drive then install it in your pc and then use Nero or some kind of burning program to burn the dvd. What are the chances that this may work and has anyone tried this yet?

I'm thinking of buying and modifying an Xbox. How many games would typically fit on a 120GB hard drive? Thanks!

Well it all depends on the size of the games. Typically you can fit between 40-50 games on a 120GB HD. But, again this is all up to individual game size. Which can vary from 500MB to 5+GB. I had about 45 games on my 120. But I also had mp3's and divx movies on it too. I am now using a 200, which I have 68 games on it, with plenty of room to grow.

Wow! That was a quick response! Thank you so much! Wish me luck on my adventure! I'm a little confused about some of the steps in modifying, but I've ordered an Xecuter 2.3B Lite Plus and I'm buying an Xbox later this week!

Okay, how large should the disc image be for EvolutionX? I found a file called "XBOX EvolutionX Boot CD v1.8.458" and it's about 7.25MB. Is that about right? I used Nero 5. Nero recognized it as an .iso image. I chose the file and Nero burned it to a Memorex CD-RW. It looks like there is a thin band burned on the inner part of the disc. The PC CD-ROM drive shows it as an empty disc, I guess. I know blondes are supposed to be dumb, but I don't expect to be able to "run" it on a PC. But should anything show up as being on the disc?
If I made this disc properly and get the "modchip" in properly, the Xbox should recognize/"run" this EvolutionX thingy and then I establish that FTP connection thingy so I can backup the Xbox hard drive? and somehow change the dashboard to that "evoX" I've read numerous tutorials, but I just can't seem to grasp this step. Do I use the FTP program to transfer this new dashboard from the Xbox DVD drive to the Xbox hard drive? Or is it done some other way??
This FTP thing also scares me. I tried to hookup a wireless network in my flat, but I never could get those two computers to talk to each other. I called tech support for help and I guess I'm too dense because my laptop computer and desktop computer aren't on speaking terms. I always thought of myself as a good matchmaker, but am I too ditzy to get an Xbox and a PC talking?
Thanks!

Sounds like you got the right image. Usually they add a file called a "fluff file" or "dummy". This is so the xbox recognizes the disc. Some people have complained about their xbox not recognizing the disc without the "dummy" on it. Mine did not need a dummy. Everyones is different. But other than that you pretty much got it down. Now time to get your chiop installed.

hi all, newbie here. would like to get a modded xbox, or see if someone here would like to mod the one i have. i work a part time job, and a full time one, so i have no time to sit there with the opened machine, otherwise, believe me, i would. i voided the stupid ps2 warranty, just to see how everything worked on the inside. i'd like to get a bigger dirve in it and whatever i'd need to transfer files back and forth between my pc and xbox pre installed if possible. anyway, if anyone is interested in doing it, let me know what i'd be looking at money wise, or where i could go to get it done. thank you all.

Its easy to copy games from your XBOX-console to your pc, you just need a ETHERNET-cable, plug it in your XBOX and in you pc. Then you need to create a network(with windows XP) between your pc and XBOX,so you can transport files from your XBOX to your PC.
