Keork- & or anyone that has tried/purchased the officedepot DVD media in the new blue packaging /wrapper like in there sale paper pictures ! if you have coded them out what's the dealio ? are they still RITEX G-O5's & Ritek O3's or has OFFICEDEPOT gone CMC on us ? Bigtox69: I just got back from Office depot and wanted to stock up on those OD media. They only had 2 spindles of the +16x left and nothing else! They do have a shipment coming in tomorrow or thursday. They let me substitute a 50 pack of verbatim +r 16x for one of my free ones.
Those blue wrappers are 16x speed for both dash and plus.The picture in the add is the same 16x speed. I just scanned one and here's what dvdidentier says:

saugmon- THANKS for the info! The ones I picked up were the old school old label 8x and were Ritek G-05 's I cracked open one spindle & checked it with dvd identifier ! Have'nt burned any from theese spindles yet but just burned War of the worlds to a 8X DVD-R Maxell = Ritek G-o5 and seemed to work well at 4x Have'nt watched the burned copy front to back but spot viewed it on the puter and seems to have come out alright! so the OD's should be the same I guess ? I suppose then that the Od 16X DVD-R are probably [Ricoh manufactured also ? Let us know how you like them when you get to using them! hope your days and burns are error free ! SONY......8X DVD-R & +R.............The best blank media all day and on sale now at CompUSA $17.99 50 disc spindle "High Quality" blank media.

Yes, unfortunately OD has OD'd on RICOHJPN with their 16X media, If you can still find the8X they are RItek.

Does anyone know if that OD sale on their DVD-R is available online as well? By the time I made it to our local store they only had one spindle...so couldn't really take advantage of the sale. :) I went to the website and didn't see any indications of the sale, but surely they would have the same deal?

My local Office Depot has a good supply of these discs left but the packaging says Made in Taiwan for both the 8x and 16x spindles. Did anyone else notice that? And if you did, how do they code out?

8X are Ritek G-05 (-R's), the 16X are RICOHJPN
not quite as good as the RIteks.
The 8X are good, but personnally I would stay away from the 16X

I've burned 32 of the +16x ricohjpn-r03 and all OK. I haven't had any time to run any scans but they are pretty good. I'd still rather get the +8x Ritek-r03 because I have burned over 350 of them with only 1 playback coaster. Very good ritek media.

It's funny 'cuz all RICOHJPN play well, but I'm curious as to the longterm stability of these disks, not to throw that dreaded M word around but three years ago I swore by Memosux, now I swear at the ones that don't play. Since discovering the Ritek's and the TY's I've been really happy and maybe I'm getting to be an old fart but not really enthusiastic to start changing my burning habits again.

Hello all.......I just got back from Office Depot....bought the 8X DVD-R 50 pack 679-784 buy one get two free deal in the NEW wrapper and they check out as Ritek G-05 's in DVD Identifier...they first thought they didn't have anymore on the shelf and offered me Memorex as a substitute (yuck!) but they found two boxes full on the floor not placed on the shelf yet........yay! Better hurry guys and gals, the sale ends tomorrow! Thanks for pointing this sale out to me.

If the 16x Ricohjpn are as good as the 4x Ricohjpn they will be very good ... I have a bunch of the 4x Ricohjpn that I recorded on years ago .. they still play and scan great!
