Just a moment, Shoey, but from what I know .BIN files do not store Sub-channel info at all - the image should be useless, since it will not manage to defeat secuROM (unless he got a cracked image, but in this case we cannot help him).
andrew|ca should read again the original disc to get the original CD .SUB info. Or grab a proper .BWS file for Blindwrite / .SUB file for CloneCD, too.
he used the correct software to extract sub-channel info (CloneCD images come in a .CCD/.IMG/.SUB set and Blindwrite images result in a .BWI/.BWT/.BWS set) but andrew|ca must tell the reader to extract SUB-channel info (to get the .SUB and/or BWS file
...and from what he posted he doesn't seem to have a CloneCD image but, rather, a CDRWin image...what is happening?

As the PlayBack author says "...SafeDisk2 protected CDs can only be copied with certain CD-Writers. Copies of SecuROM protected CDs require special hardware - a RAW-DAO burner and a Reader, which is able to read Subchannel Data from Data Tracks. Not everybody has such hardware. Backups of SecuROM 2 protected CDs will only run from CD-ROMs, not a CD-Writer or a DVD-CD-Writer combo drive..."
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Specific.asp?ArticleHeadline=Elby+CloneCD+CD%2DR+Software&Series=0&index=3 -----------------------------------------------
My conclusion is, if the image wasn't read reading sub-q channel data, then thus the reason why the backup fails.
----------------------------------------------
SecuROM:
SubChannel Data from Data Track : Yes
SubChannel Data from Audio Track : No
Fast Skip Error : No
Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner : No
Don't repair SubChannel : No

O.K....first of all thanks that you continue to assist me, while I'm asking questions about ".BIN" file which I downloaded (not bought the actual CD)
1) I have got 1 q. - are you talking about Unreal 2003 or about my previous post about C&C-Generals?
So if I correctly understand (talking about UT2003_CD1)
1) I need to take my CD1 which I burned with BlindWrite using "DAO PW" (first CD with ".BWA" file which I downloaded from some site, using your link and another CD, all the same files, WITHOUT ".BWA")
2)Then I copy all the files from one of this CD's (I think the one without ".BWA" file) into some empty folder.
3) ?...you wrote about some ".BWS", ".SUB" files what about them. And what is this:
************************************************
SecuROM:
SubChannel Data from Data Track : Yes
SubChannel Data from Audio Track : No
Fast Skip Error : No
Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner : No
Don't repair SubChannel : No
************************************************
4) I also mentioned about the exact error while installing UT2003_CD1: corrupted "BarrensArchitecture.utx" file and the most interesting thing is that I found on e in the internet that is 8mb and the one that is in my file, after I extracted it with Win ISO is 24mb...?
5) If possible could you suggest some shared idea, 'cause I'm confused in your argument. In case of something my CD-RW is: HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8320B na dmy DVD-ROM is: Pioneer DVD116
6) which one chould I use for reading/installing the game in the future, 'cause you mentioned something about probable UNcompabilty of some CDwriters to read such CDs.
Thanks in advance!

I don't agree with Shoey. If you burned the CD from a BIN, the CD is BAD, it hasn't any correct subchannel info (since no sub info were stored in the .BIN). Therefore you cannot re-extract the copy and burn DAO-PW. You'll burn subchannel data from the copy, not subchannel data from the original CD (which are needed to run SecuROM protected games).

You wrote the read setting for CloneCD. These are the settings necessary for extracting a correct image from the original CD.
Here is the full profile needed in CloneCD:
[CloneCD ReadPrefs]
ReadSubData=1
RegenerateData=0
ReadSubAudio=1
AbortOnReadError=0
FastErrorSkip=0
ReadSpeedData=0
ReadSpeedAudio=0
IntelligentBadSectorScan=0
SectorSkip=100
NoErrorReport=0
FirstSessionOnly=0
AudioQuality=0
[CloneCD WritePrefs]
DontRepairSubchannelData=0
AlwaysCloseLastSession=1
AmplifyWeak=0
WriteSpeed=0
But if you do not own the original CD you're done, you need to get the subchannel part from the same source (don't post it here) you got the data part from, or the burned CD will never run.

Does the model # make a big difference? I am not sure of the exact model #. By the way i was able to make a succsesfull cd image of c&c Generals and play it. I was able to do that with 3 programs: 1)CloneCD with ClonyXXL 2)Alcohol120% using SafeDisk2 3)GameDrive
It worked fine. The only one that didnot work is BlindWrite i used it to write and ISO format image (maybe thats why). Even though all these 3 images worked the CloneCD one was the worst one. The only problem with it was with AUTOPLAY everything else was fine. The other 2 worked as if it were an original CD.

Makes a huge differance. Consider the older LG (Lucky GoldStar) as an example. The LG 16x can "write regular bit patterns correctly", the LG 24x model can't.
----------------------------------------------
The reading of sub-q "audio" isn't required to make a successful backup of SecuROM, it's "optional". The CloneCD settings I posted will work for backing up SecuROM& PSX1 backups.
Sub-q channel (data\audio) is stored in bin& cue format. If this were not so, then why would CloneCD give me the option to read an any image of a cd with the option to "create cue sheet".
My conclusion (previous post) doesn't mean I'm right and I'm persuaded the bin file (UT 2003) cd 1 andrew downloaded is corrupt.

Shoey, just make some math. .BIN file (in size) is always an even multiple of 2352 bytes (RAW sector size)
BIN size = CD used sectors * 2532 bytes
(pleas note that CloneCD uses IMG instead of BIN as extension, but such files are bit-by-bit identical)
Subchannel PQ need another 16 bytes, PW need 96 bytes.
A Full-subchannel .SUB file of Clone CD has size:
SUB size = CD used sectors * 96 bytes
So you can check BIN has NO subchannel info by doing some math. Dont you agree?
'Create CUE' option is just for the sake of compatibility with other software (NERO, CDRWin). And CUE files made by CloneCD are like this:
FILE "name-of-the-CD.IMG" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
and DO NOT load .SUB info. So .CUE/.IMG set, since do not load SUB info, are useless for backupping SecuROM.
Alcohol 120%, for instance, doesn't let you save the extracted image in BIN/CUE format if Datatype=SecuROM. You can only save in MDS or CCD. This, again, because BIN/CUE has no info on subchannel data.

ehm... still about C&C Generals I believe ;-)
I downloaded Deviance's bins; both files are shown in ClonyXXL (with Alcohol 120% in background) as un-protected files.
I tried a different downloaded bin (same filesize, so possibly just a renamed one) which is also unprotected.
At 99% I get the "error 1335 data2.cab corrupt" message.
Anyone an idea what to do?

I've had exactly the same problem with DEViANCE C&C Generals. I've spent AGES trying to solve the problem. It's not a burning or CD problem i'm quite sure because i've simply extracted the bin file (using isobuster) and then opened Data2.cab and tried to extract the file which the installation fails on, and it won't extract. I've redownloaded the file from multiple sources.
It's a mystery, I don't have a clue why it's not working. After trying the 4th version I was sure it was either a problem with cab files or bin files on my PC, but that was ruled out when i tried it on my 2 other computers (1 with xp, the other with 2k) and they both did the same thing.
I even tried making a cab file from scratch by extracting all the files from Data2.cab which worked, and getting the files which didn't from a friend, but that didn't work either.
I'm hoping someone has had this problem and managed to solve it.

ELECTRON can you please explain how you got C&C Generals to work on gamedrive? I put both cds on gamedrive, and because of that safedisk 2.8 the autoplay would load but would tell me to insert correct cd, i have tried reinstalling, and creating a new image, neither work. Can you please post the explantation on how you put generals on gamedrive, thank you.

Can Aldaco12 or Shoey or someone else answer just 2 simple questions:
1) Is there any point to download "...CD2.bin" all over again from the internet hoping that this "Data2.cab" is not corrupt and try to install the game without any errors ?
2) Will I be able to use multiplayer with generated key
Thanks!

And what about redownloading "CD2.bin" with probably uncorrupt "Data2.cab" or I can find this "Data2.cab" in the internet and just download it ?

Whoever will post ways to get pirate material on the net will be BANNED!!!
Sorry people, we all want to help but we are subject to strict rules
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487
BTW, this extract from Alcohol-soft main site should close the 'sub-channel data in BIN image format' topic
Quote: Features:
Supports dumping from original disc to most popular of image file formats :
Media Descriptor Image file format(mds)
CloneCD Image format(ccd/img/sub)
CDR WIN Image file format(cue/bin)(Available for disc with one session only, cannot store sub-channeld data)
Standard ISO Image format(iso)(Available for disc with one data track only, cannot store sub-channeld data)
Again the conclusion is: BIN/CUE (as ISO) format does not store sub-channel data info so that format cannot be used to store images of discs protected by SecuROM (unless you have cracked them - illegally - first).

Afterdawn( aldaco12) has posted "sticky" threads on how to successfully backup cd protections. Backing up the latest cd protection(s) isn't easy as what you might think. You must have the proper hardware (burner) first and knowledge of what cd protection your backing up, not to mention what software to use as well. If you don't have the "right" burner to backup the latest cd protections, then you have to rely on emulation. Now you know why it is very difficult as mods to even attempt to help others backing up cd protection, especially when it comes to internet downloads of images.

andrew|ca,
Have you tried to burn C&C Generals using BlindWrite 4.25 in DAO pw write mode with "enhance weak sectors" disabled?
Have you tried to burn UT 2003 with a bwa file tucked in the bin& cue folder (CD1) using BlindWrite 4.25? Fire up BlindWrite 4.25>start cd writing wizard>nextlocate your burner>next. Here you load the cuefile and for file types, select All supported TOC formats or CDRWin TOC format, load your cue file>next. Write mode is set at DAO pw and check "enable bwa file". Be sure UT 2003 bin& cue files are named UT2003_CD1 as well as your bwa file before burning

The LiteON burners are the most recommended, but brands like Asus, MemorexMax, Polaroid BurnMax, and BTC burners will get the job done as well.
Recommended progrms to backup SecuROM 4.8.x:
1) BlindWrite Suite (4.25)<The best version
2) CloneCD& TwinPeak Tool
Recommended programs to backup Safedisc 2.8.x
1) Paddus DiscJuggler
2) Alcohol 120%
3) DiscDump& FireBurner
4) BurnAtOnce
5) CloneCD
6) BlindWrite Suite (4.25)
