Not a newb, so eliminate that from your mind as the cause of problems.

Attempt 1: Straight rip with DVD Shrink... "Out of Memory" at 45%.

Attempt 2: DVD Shrink with AnyDVD (newest)... "Out of Memory" at 45%.

Attempt 3: DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD, then opened with DVD Shrink... "Invalid data in VTS_03_1.VOB. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress."

Attempt 4: DVDFab Gold with DVD Region+CSS (all newest)... seemed to rip fine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to keep DVDFab from breaking it into 2 DVD's. Unacceptable.

Attempt 5: DVD Decrypter with DVD Region+CSS, then opened with DVD Shrink... "Invalid data in VTS_03_1.VOB. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress."

Still working on it though.

Attempt 6: DVDFab Gold with DVD Region+CSS... you can use the "wizard" to rip a DVD-9 straight to a folder without "splitting it" across 2 DVD's. Not sure why you can't do that without the "wizard".

In progress now...

AnyDVD 5.8.3.1 and CloneDVD 2.8.5.1 did the trick in 32 minutes straight!!

In progress now... and it seems to have been successful. After dropping it in "complete" form, I ran it through DVD Shrink to recompress it to DVD-5. I'll burn and verify tonight.

Guess I got lucky! Had no probs used DVD Decrypter 3[1].5.4.0 & DVD Shrink 3.2. Went straight thru.

I'll try being nicer, if you try being smarter!
