@ saugmon
EH, got to love those Canadian prices! Even though I still had a ton of MIJ Maxells, I couldn't resist buying a few when they went down to $24.99 Cad/ 100 spindle MIJ around Boxing Day. It does disappear fast, I think my kids come and help themselves to media when I'm not home LOL.

Canada (Windsor, ON), 2006-01-21, Wal Mart, Maxell DVD-R 100's are $27.77 Can. 'everyday price".
Made in Taiwan mixed in with MIJ.
I snagged a MIJ, identifies as MXLRG03.
Same price for DVD+R, all MIT.

You want made in Japan with the -R FujiFilm discs period ... but the good Verbs are made in Taiwan .. no such thing as MIJ Verbs in the USofA, yet .. as far as the MIT Fuji ... the MIT +R, if they're 8x are most likely to be RitekR03, pretty darn good itself, but the 16x MIT FujiFilm are gonna be either Philips C16 or ProDisc R03 both are future coasters ... Now the 8x -R FujiFilm that are MIT are probably ProDisc F01 (or maybe FujiFilm 03) and the 16x MIT FujiFilm are gonna be either ProDisc F02 (or maybe FujiFilm 04) ... I'd pass on the MIT -R FujiFilm crapola
the catfreak hath spoketh ...

So basically just get the Verbs and you won't have a problem.

My RiData scans are pretty good. A little over halfway through the pack, no coasters, 40 PS2 games backed up, no lagging or anything, perfect gameplay and graphics. Movies are also read on both of my DVD players, old Samsung and new Sony. I just booktype everytime I burn to DVD-ROM in DVD Decrypter and Nero. Also used a couple for data discs, copied one too, data is also read perfectly. I also used a Dynex 8x +R made by Ritek, got to say, those are really good too, but I'd rather buy Verbs/Sony +R's on sale since I'm not gonna spend $25 on a 50-pack of Taiyo Yuden media ANYWHERE online since I can get 100 MCC or Sony TY's for $5 more, cheaper when I trade my ink in in Staples, still got two cartridges left. :)
Here's some info on those RiData 8X +R 100 pack on sale at newegg(free 3 day shipping, $26) just in case you wanted it:
Physical Format Information (ADIP):
Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R02-03
Book Type: DVD+R
That's from DVD Decrypter.
How I make extra money:(for games/clothes/cable etc)

V7 PS2 DMS4 PRO flashed w/ ToxicBIOS w/ brand new laser, a 400c, the best PS2 laser out there & V7 PS2 w/ Swapmagic 3.6+

I've got the verbatim +8x light scribe and they ID just like my +8x and regular verbatim +8x= MCC-003. That is some very fine media.
HP cmags,I wouldn't even waste my money on that overpriced lightscribe media.

@blivetnc: No problem. I don't think too many folk up here are up on those discs so there might still be some left on the shelves. I hope to get back over there sometime this week...

The OD 100 DVD + R only 8X ($24.99) code out as:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKG05]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [RITEKG05]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier V4.2.0 - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously I was fooled. The label says these are DVD + R, but they are DVD-R. They are going back tomorrow. They are ritek but wrong version.
