I guess I have used improper words, because I didn't want you to thing you did.

Like I said, I was just suprised to see the comment, since most people who try VSO CopyToDVD, (and use quality media) has not had issues :)
Have you ever run into a situation where CopyToDVD or Blindwrite refused to burn a DVD video with a message to the effect that there might be a problem with the structure? Your previous replies sounded as though you haven't. Besides using many of the stock backup applications, I've also been involved with some beta testing, such as following the development of Rebuilder. I've done several hundred backups for my extensive video library and that of my extended family. Some are amazed at the accumulation of software I have available now. Some was acquired for testing and others for use that just got passed over for a better "flavor". Point being, with my addiction for software and time working with recording backups, I've seen more situations than the average user who sticks with a limited number of programs. I'm not trying to influence anyone to use any program over another. That's persoanl preference as I've said many times.

Other than using a few elto cheapo media, I had never ever had issues with CopyToDVD, so I am surprised to see this comment.

My 2 cents...
The implication even if not intentional was that with your experience, you don't believe such a thing could happen. From my experience, I have seen it happen and also know others who have had the same experience. It was from them that I knew to try Nero for that particular situation. Similar experiences have happened to others. At one point I was offered free VSO software and a chance to test VSO betaware as you are. I declined, the betaware was tempting, but they didn't have that much of it that I would be using enough to make it worthwhile. Did I mention I have the full line of VSO software? I had been using CopyToDVD almost exclusively for doing backups. I like the VSO option of being able to right click a file and burn it. It's handy not having to go into an app every time you want to burn a video. Nero is not quite as friendly. As I said, they both have their pros and cons. I wasn't protecting my choice as some may have thought, I don't particularly like it being said I don't know "jack", even if by implication. By the way, my backups are on Ricoh and Taiyo Yuden media. Media wouldn't have been an issue to the situation described. One app refused due to content structure, the other questioned but continued the process. It happened before burning started. Plus the programs burn to the media flawlessly. Media problems are usually a matter of quality and/or drive firmware, not software that has a good record of working.

For AVI conversions the WinAVI Video Converter, try the trial, if it works you have to buy the retail to get a picture without the product logo on the screen. Also a dedicated app is DivXToDVD. Nero may do the job, but is more complicated. As far as deciding the best, give them a try. WinAVI and Nero have trials, and Nero is full function and no screen logos. With Nero 7, look at Nero Vision 4.
