To put this thread back on topic, I want to make sure that everyone knows I don?t use any labels on any of my TY media or any media for that matter and IF I ever had or ever burned Verbatim media, (never had the pleasure,) I wouldn?t label them either! I hope that answered your question. :)

ScubaBud,
I know you are not labeling and heard you nice and clear :)
I was just curious if you do Verbs and how they do.
Thanks, that pretty much answered my question.
Maybe we should start another thread of "who's got the best quality burns" :)

Michmo,

I know exactly what you have gone thru. Some of my labelled discs worked while others didn't then after reading this board, only 2 ways to go when trying to nicely label your discs....

1. Lightscribe Burner, great technology, discs a little more expensive and picture is monochromatic...

2. Epson R 200 or R300 series printer where it prints directly onto a "Printable DVD, clarity/color is sometimes as good as the original... Printer is around $99 on avrg and discs are only a few pennies more than your basic DVDr;s

Hope this helps...

I think I'll hold off on the new technology, Light Scribe will get cheaper. The Epson printer is enticing though. I've got quite a little system going on with my label removal process, the WD40 does the trick - soak the labels in water overnight, scrape off with your finger as to not do damage to the DVD, then apply WD40, slick as snot.

Just an update on the WD40 myth buster as Saugmon put it. I had the same disk completely submerged in WD40 for over 27 1/2 hours and after being rinsed, washed, rinsed again then dried the scanned results were the same.

Another myth that got busted? How about exploding toilets? Try that one ted. LOL

I picked my dad up an epson r-200 at staples on clearance for $49 after rebate. The r-220 is replacing that model. They have been advertising the R-320 for $130 after rebate.

Advantages:
Scans look great-PI/PO error scan
Pretty good disc pictures-darker the better for mine.
Excellent, better than original quality case covers.
$19 for a set of 6 ink cartridges at Private.abacus
Get $3 vouchers from staples on the used cartridges

Dis-advantages:
The lighter disc covers don't look that great-on mine
The rebate has taken nearly 2 months and still not here.

i got my first rebate for the r340 which was a 50$ best buy gift card, the second one, which is for 30 bucks has not arrived yet either.

@ saugmon, we dont have a staples here, but have office depot and max..

OD has the rebate thing for empty ink cartridges... but get this, they do not take epson, hp, brother, or cannon ink tanks...
i thought i was gonna bank with the epson one.. plus, i juts bought another epson printer at OD for 50 bucks, after rebate... got the rx620. it was on clearence for 149.99 with a 100 dollar rebate...got one for me, then took the receipt to best buy and they matched the price... alot of hastle, but they matched it.. this printer sells at best for for 300 bucks....

the beauty of it... the r340 and rx620 all take the same ink cartridges...

Yepp gear, good move. I have myself the RX600 and bought it new for about $300 and the R220 recently. Taking the same cartridge is cool, the RX gets the Epson ink the R220 the generic. I figure with the price of the R220, if it breaks or something, I just get myself a new set of cartridges for the RX, by buying a new printer.
