Hi drewg, i just wouldnt take no for a answer. I asked for a manager to phone me back and after 3 days he finally did. I told him that it wasnt fair that sony was not taking any responsiblity for what had happend. After a lot of nagging they said they would replace it this time free of charge but if it was to happen again they would not. I would phone sony and ask to speak to a manager and hope that you get one that is in a good mood. Fingers crossed for you let us know how you get on. Sony sent a courier out with a new psp and i had to give the same courier the broken one

Hi, thanks for having your fingers crossed. I called today and I got an automated "We're sorry but with such high demand, we ask that you call later." I will call back tomorrow. I will probably say this:
"Hi, I was upgrading my PSP to version 2.0, to play a psp game I recently purchases, when my power supply went out. I turned on my PSP again, and it did not boot up. It froze at the booting up stage. I would like if I could exchange my PSP for a new one. I do not feel as though i should pay for the repair costs, since Sony is making it essential that I upgrade. If I was not obligated to do so, none of this would of happened."
How's that, that's what I would say to their supervisor.
Thanks,
Drew

Oh, I forgot to say, I live in the U.S, and honestly, I've never heard of Courier. I do use P.O Box though, as well as physical adress. Talk to you later.

hi drew just say that when you were updating it the electric supply tripped like when you put the kettle on and the electric trips(too many appliances on the go at once) at the fuse box turning all plug sockets off so not your fault thats what i said.a courier is just a delivery service like ups you just wait for them to call you give them your psp and they give you a new one all boxed just make sure the security seal has not been broken on the box if it has dont accept it

Okay thanks, that's what I will do. My story doesn't exactly match up to how your's happened, but I was waaay to busy today to call. Hopefully tomorrow, on Friday, I'll probably just call early around 6 AM PST. Thanks Wazb.

Halleluja,
Okay, I talked to Sony a while ago (on the road through Cell Phone), they asked me a series of questions: Did you submerge it in water? Was the outside cracked? Did you drop it? Blah blah Blah. Since none of that (or anything similar to that) happened to me, I replied "No". They said to send the PSP, the power cord, power supply, and battery pack to Texas, and they would send me a new one once they received mine. So I am clear. I will send mine in probably tomorrow, (Feb. 11th, 2006) and so I can get the new one ASAP. Well atleast I'm happy. Hey, thanks for having your fingers crossed- they did wonders ;).

Thats great! not to change your mind or anything, but you know that you won't get a 2.0 or lower right. but its better to just get a psp.
like the return said.

Ok you know what you can do I did this to get a receipt warranty on my psp. You go to walmart and buy a psp and something else like a in my spot i bought a flat screen cheapy tv. You can if you want switch out ur psp and pretend nothing happened. Take your receipt and photocopy it. When you call sony say I can send you a copy of the receipt because it has a huge list of other stuff on it if it breaks I need to have it. The women at sony are pretty leanyent. If you say this would do it or I think any one would say its ok. Just try it for the hell of it, and see what they would say.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

sony never asked for my recipt.i just said i bought it at christmas brand new for my little lad(and explained that the electric had tripped while performing the upgrade) and they exchanged it free of charge.point out that sony should not sell a machine that could go faulty if the electric goes off while performing the upgrade what if you have a thunder storm and the power goes down or any other freak accident JUST DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER and like i said to drew if you get no joy ask to speak to a manager
hope that helps
