Glad you got the media issue worked out! But to really work it out use Taiyo Yuden like doc and alkohol suggest. It's almost all I use too.
Here's a guide to help you with shrink. You can't really remove what you don't want but insert a still image:

Removing stuff you don't want will help keep the compression low & improve quality. I would keep the menu - they're not that big + easy to navigate the dvd.
I also use AnyDVD a driver that runs in the background. I have it set to 'jump directly to title menu' & remove 'annoying adverts & trailers'. What this does is throw the adverts & trailer to the back. That way if you make a still image of it it's not noticeable.
Now removing the extras on a copy to copy will not help quality - it's already compressed - so it is what it is.

so besides using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.......what are some other programs out there that are being used burn movies. Are they as easy as shrink and decrypter?

The best combo out there imo is AnyDVD and CloneDVD - they will handle any movie out there. Very easy to use but not free. They do have a 21 free trial. Go to http://slysoft.com
A free ripper (like decrypter but still updated)that will handle the new stuff is dvdfab decrypter. You can download that here:
