Okay so you're getting this error when trying to rip the game to your HD. Is this from an original copy of Tekken 4 or a copy? I'm not trying to get you in trouble, I just want to know for purposes of helping you.

yes, I get that error when trying to rip it to the harddrive. also get a similar error when trying to put on a dvd, the iso would be around 2.7g it would say the new disc only had the space of 2.3gig.....anyway, I have used this before, think it needs to be reinstalled?

Hmm, what kind of burner do you have, it could be some form of riplock. Try updating your firmware.

http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/riplock.cfm

92. Q. What is firmware and why should I care?
A. Firmware as defined by AD:
Sort of a "operating system of the hardware", an embedded instruction set built-in or flashed into a hardware equipment, such as a router, CDR drive, DVD-ROM drive, washing machine, etc.
Newer Firmware can unlock new features that are sealed on certain DVD Burners like booktyping, or simply enhance your existing Burner by improving burn quality and media compatiblility. Keeping your Firmware up to date is essential to ensure quality burns and maximum functionality from your DVD Burner. When flashing your burner with new Firmware, be very careful. Make sure you shut down all programs running in the background, the DVD-ROM drive is empty, and you follow all the directions included in the Firmware download exactly. A bad flash can fry your DVD Burner. Proceed with caution. You can find all the Firmware you'll ever need here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

1) Read all the stickies
2) Searched and searched
3) Still missing something...probably basic but would appreciate help

Ok, at the risk of being hammered as a newby for yet another backup query, here's my problem.

Basically the "Red Screen" of "Please insert PS or PS2 Format Disk".

This shows for my backup PS2 disks only, originals work fine.

The specs

PS2 - Version 9 - with DS4 EZE Lite Mod Chip (Installed carefully and with correct reset message at start up)

Operating Sys - Win Xp
Burner - Pioneer DVD 16X - (1 week old)
Media - TDK DVD-R 4.7g 1-16x (purchased from reputable shop)
Software - DVD Decrypter - set to write @ 4x even 2x & 1x, in desperation
IDE - set to "DMA if Available"
WNASP132.dll - updated and enabled with DVD Decrypter

Files are generally over 4Gb but within 4.4gb and I have selected both the ISO and MS files on seperate backups without any joy.

I have DVD Shrink if required.

Any suggestions to advise me on what I am doing wrong would be really appreciated!

Samantha X, you need to flash the DMS 4 EZI Lite with Toxic BIOS in order for it to load backups properly.

104. Q. I can't get my DMS 4 or Matrix Infinity to boot backups/imports, what's going on?
A. You need to flash the chip with the latest firmware to boot backups and imports.
DMS 4 Pro SE or Pro: http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=3138141
DMS 4 Lite or Lite SE: http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=8823396
Matrix Infinity: http://www.infinitymod.com/cgi-bin/matrix/site.pl?page=news

Note: There are a ton of Matrix Infinity Clones out there. If you flash a Matrix Infinity clone with the official MI firmware, you'll fry the clone chip. That's a little gift from the Matrix Team to you for not researching and making sure you got a legit MI. After reading this FAQ, there's no excuse for ending up with a MI Clone.
Use Alcohol 120% to burn the bin file to CD-R.
Alcohol 120%: Alcohol 120%: http://www.free-downloads.net/programs/Alcohol_120_

Burn the Firmware to CD-R with these instructions:
1. Unzip the firmware.
2. Insert your blank disc.
3. Open Alcohol 120%.
4. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
5. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file and click image burning wizard.
6. Select your recorder, leave the write method alone, set the write speed to 4x, set the datatype to PS2, and click next.

Tokijin,

Many thanks.

Flashed bios by burning image onto a CD of the CUE file. Put it in the PS2. Switched off the power and then turned it on again. Automatically loaded to toxic screen. Followed instructions...ie press X to continue, it did all the rest.

Restarted machine and now all backups work perfectly.

Thankyou for your patience.

Just load the iso into DVD Decrypter and burn at half the max speed of the disc onto quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

I won't bother to answer that for the 3,428th time. Check the PS2 FAQ in my sig.

Dear All,

I already read a few topics at this place and did the whole DVD Decrypter process. Everything turned out great and I heard the melody after it ISO-wrote and ISO-read (checked verified too). My problem happens when I load it into the Playstation 2 and I see "The disc could not be read". I heard the DVD spinning really fast... and the only screen I can acess is the Browser/System, - game won't load.

Did I miss a step , or is there something more I'm supposed to do? I am trying to burn Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires, and it's my first time - also first time to play Playstation2, not a gamer but loved this game so... I'm here looking for answers.

Also, I am using Taiyo Yudens DVD media, so it should be good. I don't have a mod chip as some place suggested I get. What can I do?

You need a modchip or Swap Magic to play PS2 backups. Check the PS2 FAQ in my sig.

Thanks for the fast reply. I did read your FAQ although not thoroughly, but it seems like the answer has to do with the mod chip or swap magic eh? I will read more about it in your FAQ, it's quite good and lengthy ^^

Just one quick question... I found this topic elsewhere

it's about
Burning PS2 Game Backup Discs Step-By-Step
by Tanna PunTuShyd

There's 2 options for if you have a mod chip and if you don't. It says that if you clone the cd, it will work? I just want to know of the information on that site is accurate. I know afterdawn is a credible site as my friend referred me here.

Does it matter if the disc is a rental or not?

That looks like utter horse manure to me. There's no self booting CD/DVD-R's for the PS2 that I'm aware of. I think he is implying that if you do not have a chip, you must have some other means of booting backups like Swap Magic or a Memory Card Exploit. As far as I know, you can't use CloneCD for DVD-ROM games. The same goes for CDR-WIN. You can use them for PSX/PS2 CD-ROM games, but not for DVD-ROM games. You need some type of mod to boot PS2 backups, end of story.

Yeah I double checked this just to be 100% sure. I tried ripping a DVD-ROM game to my hard drive with CDR-WIN and CloneCD, can't be done. It doesn't recognize the disc type so I get error messages with CDR-WIN and CloneCD just sits there waiting for my burner to send the info, it never does. That guide's for PS2 CD-ROM games. I've used both those programs to backup PSX games.
