I backed up this movie last night using AnyDVD running in background used DVD Decrypter to copy to hard drive. When I tryed to open the file with Shrink I got an error so I ran the files through VOBBlanker. Blanker marked VOB 7 to be skiped, after I processed the files I opened the VOBBlanked files in Shrink, Shrink gave me an error that VOB 7 was missing. I ran the files again through VOBBlanker and manually changed VOB 7 process from SKIP to "Process". I then ran the new VOBBlanked files through Shrinker again and it failed to end the burn process with an out of memory error. I then used Nero Rencode to burn the DVD and all was fine.

Summary:

1. Use AnyDVD to remove protection.
2. use DVD Decrypter to copy to hard drive.
3. Use VOBBlanker to process the files and change VOB 7 from skip to "Process". Process the files.
4. Burn Processed files to DVD with Nero Rencode.

I got Howls Moving Castle into DVD Shrink by just copying the DVD onto the hard drive with DVD Fab, then use DVD Shrink from there. No need to mess around with VOB cells. At least that's how it worked on the Pacific Northwest distribution of Howls Moving Castle (There seems to be different distrobutions of this disk from Disney). It works 100% fine.

If you don't use DVD Fab, you'll get a CRC error in the VOB_7 file.

Thanks for you advise but in USA that movie was a little dificult to copy a did everything that you told me and doesn't works but in here. I used DVD clone the last version and it's works thanks again

I backed this movie up using AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 I read here that someone was able to back this movie up using SHRINK alone? Please explain how? Accomplishing that is short of a miracle:P

Found & removed 2 bad sector protections!

me, it was Region 2...

..but knowing me, i might have been wrong, honestly can't remember as i did quite a few at the time. But what i know for definite is that if i didn't in fact use Shrink alone, i would have used DVDFab Decrypter then just DVD Shrink, none of the vobblanker/other stuff.

Basically any troublesome film i've done for quite some time has needed ONLY DVDFab Decrypter followed by Shrink, no other tools necessary for me

Hi somebody wrote me a e-mail and he said he copy using only shirnk but he also said he live in south america and i think is a diferent region but i copy using DVDclone2 sorry but i don't have idea how he copy with shirnk

i am ALWAYS able to backup my dvd's using AnyDVD and CloneDVD...yet howls moving castle does't work...why is this? are more dvd's gonna ship with this protection?

should i use something besides AnyDVD?
should i use something besides clone DVD 1?

**i would rather skip the quadruple program work around UNLESS this will become the normal**

hello ragedrive i used DVDFab to backup the movie in the harddrive and later a use a software the name FixVTS and is freeware in this page http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/ + VobBlanker is also a freeware and use DVDclone and works good i hope this info help you

Just used Shrink and then ran it through DVD Rb with CCE basic worked for me.

Strange that some people seem to be having no luck.

Does anyone know if companies would bother releasing the same DVD with copy protection for some regions and not others?
