Another reason I stockpile:
My older tv recorder is limited to 4x rated media.I got lucky and MCC-004 16x media will work on her. That's what my MCC-003 verbs are being saved for.
Also those Yuden000-T02 are the last spindles in my area.These are waiting for a special occasion-- I may be a daddy in 4-5 months!!!!!!
Just think,a little saugmon jr running around, LOL.

Congratualtions, of course you have to start the little guy/girl off with just the right media. Make sure you teach them everything you know, groom them for AD success :)

I guess you've been doing more than Just Varmint Dancing all this time ? You devil you !!! Hey maybe it could be twins & you could name them nostril A & nostril B LOL! On the media thing I hear ya' ! It 's a addiction almost ! or like a compulsion Like OCD ! except it"s OMBD = Obsessive Media Buying disorder ! Have'bt sat down and counted yet down to the last DVD but I would probably be close to what you have perhaps a few more or less in different Brands of media , Taiyo Yudens (Value line ) Sony DVD+R's Riteks ( MAXELLS /OFFICEDEPOT'S ) Maxells( MIJ'S) Tdk's , Fuji's (MIJ's ) ( Philips ( Weak Moment ! did'nt know better at the time !!) Verbatims ( knew better Then !! ) and some Ultran 4x ( sub Newbie purchase !!) and a Handfull of Memorex 5 when first bought drive Walmart sale (to try out drive!!) Most media is 8x , with one spindle of Tdk 4 x & some philips 4x & 2.4x for the liteon 5005 ! & 300 16x's split between Office Depot & verbatims ! It gets worse too ! I did'nt just start on the hard stuff ( Fuji's Verb's & Taiyo's !!) I was /am A formerly heavy Cd burner so I've Got CDR's out the YIN YANG Too ! So Been there & done that ! But then again I've got those 2 hungry Nec's and My Benq to feed Plus the Liteon 5005 in the living room too! I come from a Audio / Stereo Junkie !! background Hobbywise so I've got Audiocassettes up the Wazzoo as well !! Can't pass up a good sale on media I guess ? Though Have'nt bought a Audio or video cassette in years !!! Used to think I had CRO2 & ferric Oxide For blood now it's probably pumping AZO & Plastic LOL!!! Well saugmon ! my mind like my boot heels is a Wandering so Good Luck on your future Lil' Upgrade & additions to your media collection ! What do the TDKs code out as? I bought a 100 stack 8X for $20 in a weak moment; they code as TYs Yuden T02s. I've used them up and now are on the Sony 8X TYs T02s.

garmoon- The ones I have open are TDK 4X DVD+R'S they code out as DDVD+R RICOHJPN -Ro1 -002 Have 100ct spindle of these will probably burn them u[ next & booktype them on the Benq ~Have a 50ct. spindle of 8xTdk DVD-R's but have'nt broken the seal on them yet !saugmon In the words of that famous hip hop song OOPS! There it is ! At the risk of sounding sensitive let me say this Children are like raibows ! a Gift and a promise from god that the world will go on !& Just think in another 10 or fifteen years your Youngin's will probably be transcribing your entire dvd /cd collection onto a holographic quartz matrixed doom-o- phlagie 1 cubic inch square & compain that it only filled it to 1/3 of capacity ! I guess it's a boogerette BIGTOX. My gf showed me the pic of the ultrasound and I couldn't make heads or tails of it. It looked more like a doppler radar image,than of a baby, LOL

i keep it simple guys iam at about 350 Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs and there all coding out as TYGO3s as of late hope that runs me to about the 4th of July since they run good sales at holidays

aabbccdd- I hear ya!
Looks like the Various retailers are starting to offer more Quality media on sale prices again ! for awhile it was all off brands and Memorex ( PHOOEY !!!!!!!!!) & ( DoublE PHOOEY!!!!) nearly every week! I guess that it goes in cycles ! & by what the distributors have alot of ! & Also looks like they are putting more and more 16X media on sale as Opposed to the 8x stuff ! I mainly use 8x media so I 'll have to get used to it I guess ! But I've got a Good stockpile of 8x to see me through atleast for awhile !And so far there's still quite a bit of 8x to be had both locally & online ! And as long as the 16x media is a quality brand like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim ect.. we should be okay ! aabbccdd ! Good Luck & happy Shopping!

nobody wants to know how many TYs i have and DL Verbs, for those that know me on here, i'm EXCESSIVE with media, add a "digit" to anybody's blank media count in the single layer (with the exception of rafter242 LOL, and u are in the general ballpark for me and TYs) i'm saving my Verb DVD+R DLs for the "special occasions", couple hundred still to go after my 4 buddies (you know who u are) from AD helped me get my hands on 1,000+ of them last year~ thanks again guys for the local help and shipping them my way, your kindness has not been forgotten~

No fabrication. I just ordered 4 more cases of TY 6x100 per case. I will not use another brand of disc, even if run out. The difference is huge. I have been burned in the past.

i believe you, i order by the cases too directly from TY~ :) at least you got some "good taste" in media (i am assuming you are getting the DVD-R ones in those cases -TYG01/TYG02/TYG03- ) i buy in bulk for the DVD+R Taiyo Yudens but in large quantities they DO NOT come in those 6x100 spindle cases that the tape wrapped DVD-R come in~ :)

hehe, i got quite a few Riteks SOMEWHERE in my house, dunno where though LOL, as far as Taiyo Yuden made discs are concerned, i think creaky got the UK covered and me the U.S. :) we both like the TYs (whether it be "verbatim branded" over there or unbranded that i get over here) have a good one buddy

Do you all realize with multiple little green dudes running around here no good Ritek media will be safe? Before they can say "Mama" or "Dada" they will be saying "Ritek". Nah, they'll be happy because Daddy will have multiple copies of Barney and The Wiggles and Hamtarro lying around the mini-van for them. Keeps the tadpoles quiet on those cross country hikes to OD.

Best Buy has Sony Cakebox 100 stack for $30. Don't know if they are MIJ or not or what speed but will check em' out later this am. The 8X MIJ have been TY T02s with white octagon spacer.
