I just did som scans tonight on all the media I've used and TDK (CMC MAG E01) burns came out the best with a score of 95 followed by Verb (MCC 002 digital movie DVD) also at 95, Verb (MCC 002 datalife) 90, and get ready for it... Taiyo Yuden (SONY T02) at 90 =( I was so bummed about the TY score that I did another test from a DVD that was burned a few minutes prior tot eh test and it scored 93. Not sure why but TDK CMC MAG E01s and Verb MCC002 Digital Movie DVDs scored the best.
I'm going to vary my burn speeds and try a few different burning programs and see whats up... This is gonna bug the crap out of me.

@ Joshewah,
u really shouldn't rely on those scans too much, and something else u can try is do a scan of a CMC that is like 6 months old and check that score, i would bet almost anything that the score will not be in the 90's

The TDK was months old :/ I keep all of my DVDs vertically stored in cases and in optimal temperatures so maybe that has helped the crappy media stay stable for so long. As for now, I strictly us Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim as to avoid any possible errors in the future.

I spoke with the techs for TDK and said I needed to update my firmware. But i had already returned them. I went and bought generic DVD-R. still haven't tryed them yet. Although I have no problem with Philips DVD-R.

I never understood why everyone hates the verbatim or tdk or Office depot blank DVDs. They've all worked fine for me, as long as you keep them clean before you burn. I bought the expensive ones and even some dual layer ones, and then had to re-burn on single layer because after one play, the dvd player doesn't read them anymore. I say don't waste your money on expensive discs when the OD brand does the same quality at a fraction of the cost.

I never heard of anyone putting down Verbatim or Office Depot discs. Do you have a reference?
