Wait probably 2 mnths until a good mod chip comes out that is gonna be able to re hack the firmware and will fix this problem (Its my experience with the Xbox 1, I had a mod-chip that didnt, let me read discs and it freezed and it had all kind of problems until the Evox M8+ mod-chip came out and fixed every problem...)

I have had the same problem 3 red lights on the console it is very common now. Due to the reading I have done on this sight it appears to me that a patch from xbox live sometime in november is the culprit. There was mention of a lawsuit from a consumer on an afterdawn email. Microsoft told him that he was responsible for the repair cost. turns out since the lawsuit they are now taking them in paying shipping and repairing them. I havent acutally got mine back yet. They say 10 days on the web sight, but they didnt reicieve mine for seven days. They will not admit that the upgrade or patch is responsible but they told me that my unregisterd over a year old unit was covered and seem to be taking care of it. I was able to disconnect let it sit etc etc and it worked briefly but that is all. Also right before it died the games would freeze up. All I wanted to do on my holiday downtime was play marvel ult with the kids and that was shot to hades. Hope this helps someone

I've been doing some reading also, and have found that M$ uses very cheap solder when they build the console. Quite a few people who have gotten the 3 red lights syndrome, have ripped their console apart, down to the motherboard, heated it with a hot air gun for about 2-3 minutes, put it all back together again, and got their systems working this way. I was going to try it with mine, but I'm just gonna return the dead one and get a new one.

With Maximus' new firmware flashing software for the Hitachi 0078 drives, I'm not worried about getting one of those drives anymore.

I didn't get a chance to see which error code mine is (Will do next time I get it); but by simply unplugging the power supply from the 360 for a few minutes, then booting it with nothing in the tray, it works perfectly again.

It appears to have been triggered by a DVD. I think there is genuinely a problem with the DVD, like low-quality disc production, because we got a two-pack containing both resident evil flicks, and the first one is what put my 360 on the fritz in the same place, and it stuttered at a few places when we switched over to watch it on my old xbox, which has NEVER happened with any other movie. So, I'm thinking there's a problem with the DVD in question that caused mine, but disconnecting the power for a short time seems to help, from my experience.

Anywho, I'll be sure to post which error code mine was if and when I get it again! Hope my experience helps someone!

its 8 bucks! better than paying microfts 100+ fee to send it in to get fixed. I took time and complied the data to give to people its the least you can give for it. god...

plus if you have a $300+ system and you cant afford an 8 dollar helpguide then maybe you shouldnt have a gaming system.

I'll go back to being a lead of 16+ people doing tech support 7 days a week. And we will see who makes more $$ and knows how to read.

Tech support for Dell... All I can say is HA edited by ddp Ha. Poor guy, selling info that's available for free everywhere on the net. But in his defense, some people (alot actually) are too stupid to even KNOW how to search.

All people at Dell Tech Support do is have you look at the 4 lights on the back of your tower to see what color they are so they can know what components went bad so they can ship you new ones! That is truly sad!

I'm glad DDP stepped in and had some fun with that one. I particularly enjoyed:

That was truly beautiful; what can I say, I have a much stronger appreciation for the rules after a one month ban. At first I was figuring that it was something 'personal', but it's clear there is a need for it all around the board. I really must applaud the mods for their persistence in keeping this board clean!
