OK, I got my stabilizer box back from my buddy tonight. I hooked up my 2 DVD player together, and made a successful copy of "The Matrix." Just to be sure, I removed the stabilizer box and got the "copying of this material is not allowed" message.
I don't know what else to tell you. If you are following the directions I've given you this should work; and it does work for me. Maybe another box might do the trick. If you can get one from somewhere that allows returns then maybe give it a try.

ok here is the deal, i checked the connections 3 times! made sure they were good. i even used a nine volt ac adapter just incase my battery was dead. i tried the matrix and it did not work. now this is driving me nuts. maybe i am recording the wrong way, but what i do is basically press play on the dvd player and then wait for the movie to start playing, once it starts playing i hit the record button on the recorder. does not work. i bought that same exact box that you told me to buy from ebay, which is obviously non-returnable. the only problem i can see is that my box is defective or that i am using the wrong box, or that i am using a dvd-ram. don't know which one it is, let me know any other suggestions, because i am about to throw this dvd recorder out the window.

I can eliminate one possibility for you; it's not that you are using DVD-RAM. That's what I used last night to test it for myself. (There was no point in me wasting a DVD-R disc.)
Maybe the stabilizer box is bad.

i figured that a dvd-ram didn't make a difference, but im not sure if the box is messed up or not, because it allows me to copy blade 2 for some reason.

Why on earth would you buy one of those stand alone dvd recorders? If you can I would return that and buy a dvd burner for your computer. Chances are you probably paid more for the stand-alone than you can get a computer burner for.

yeah i did probably pay more for the stand alone, but it has some features that burners in pc's don't have. plus on top of that, i have an older pc and would need to buy a new pc as well along with the dvd burner. but thanks for the suggestion, i had already thought about it.

Just to answer your question Jay, I bought my stand alone burner after getting the burner for my computer. My reasons for buying it are as follows:
- To archive all my home movies onto DVD
- To make some money converting other people's VHS tapes to DVD
- To record off television with DVD quality. (I have digital satelite.)
- To take advantage of the Tivo functionality
- One step backup of PAL to NTSC DVD's
For many analogue to digital options I was running into the same old problem; frame rate and loss of video problems using a video card in my computer or a stand alone capture utility. Because the stand alone was designed for VCR users, it is very easy to use and get excellent results.

hey again its me, i got the new sima video enhancer that was garanteed to work, but didn't. i got the same results as with the image stabilizer. This leads me to believe that either my dvd player is not a good player to burn movies from (apex ad-1100w, old version) or that my dvd recorder (panasonic dmr-e50 p-k) has some crazy anti copying device in it. Let me know what you think ken, or anyone else that has some suggestions.

I'm not sure how, but it may be the original DVD player that you are using. I have the exact same DVD recorder, and the exact same stabilizer as you first bought. My source DVD player was an RCA, but we have used others in the past when making a copy onto VHS. (back in the day before portable DVD players.)
Maybe try a friend's DVD player as the source.

ok cool thanks, i got two other dvd players in the house, and might try hooking up the one from my computer up to the recorder as well. Hopefully one of them will work.

letting you know it didn't work, so i am just going to give up trying right now, ill just use it for other reasons and maybe in the future there might be some other way to fix the problem, but thanks for you help.

DYG713, Just an idea that might work!..If you have a computer with a dvd-rom and some video-audio output in it, you can ripped the dvd to the harddrive without Macrovision using DVD-Decriter or SmartRipper, and them play the movie from the hd and use the output connection to record in the dvd burner

i downloaded DVD Decrypter but it only makes an image of the file, but you have to use the program itself to write onto a dvd-burner. I am wondering how this would work in my situation so that i can feed it to to my video out on the back of my computer to the dvd recorder? in order to do this i was under the impression that it was to be ripped as a dvd file or mpeg2 that i can play on my computer and feed out to the dvd recorder.

For DVD Decrypter go to the Mode menu, and choose File F and select the movie VOB files. Those VOB can be play with any dvd player software. It seems that you are using ISO mode, which is going to made an image of the dvd. Also if you already have an image in the hd, you can use Isobuster to extract VOB files.

Macrovision isn't a problem...
Just use DVD Decrypter to extract all VOB BUP IFO file(s) first as picot stated , should work
