I've been burning DVDs now for a little over 2 years and I still consider myself a newbie because I try to be open to new ideas and actually try to LEARN something from reading these forums. I've used just about everything I've seen on sale and I've hard a certain amount of success with everything burned. With that being said, I've had my BEST success with Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Sony.

My advice is to check the forum page for current sale prices posted each week. There are other members that are always ready to help a fellow member find a great deal on these three media brands.

Good luck!

The older previous 8x TDK were very good, I had no trouble with them.
The 16x TDK are not worth the dye thats put in them. CRAP.
Now more and more DVD blank media is being manufactured by CMC and other cheapos. Just be carefull what you buy.

Same here. I used about 100 8X TDKs many months ago, possibly even a year, and they still play without a hitch in all of my DVD players. They coded out CMC too. Some burners burn effectively with CMC while others do not is my guess. I also take great care of my back-ups. It doesn't matter anymore though because I strictly use Verbs, and once in a while TY if I can find them cheap.
