KOOL!

Cheers ddp, that makes sense now.

Tut tut, explosions are BAD!

Be mature like me, and just make smokebombs to terrorize your school and local neighbours :P

Thanks ddp. Hows it goin?

...a joke.. or...?

Just read about nitroglycerin, used to make dynamite. Is that stuff too risky to make? I heard alot of people have died trying to make it.

Unless you have at least 2 years worth of labwork experience, all the proper chemicals *no substitutes*, and access to a well ventilated room that is somewhat fireproof, i would advise you to STAY THE F*CK AWAY FROM NITROGLYCERIN.

It's not something a kid like you should mess with.
I've seen pictures of kids who used the anarchist cookbook, thinking it would be bad@ss to "brew some nitro" only to find out first hand how dangerous it is to use :
A)unconfirmed, false information and/or bad recipe's
B)substitutes for proper chemicals and
C)DYI equipment ,
Which in most cases lead either to extreme mutilation or death.

LOL nitroglycerin that is some scary sh!t. Yuo nkow how many people died from that one false move and CABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM your dead.

EDIT: Also you can make mini explosion's with dry ice I dont know how but I remember reading some people were making bomb's with dry ice and like they got it exploded right in front of them and now the one guy's face is serisouly screwed up.

It's not that nitroglycerin is as unstable as you see in movies, heck, i've seen people throw viales of it a far distance, only for it to shatter and spread their precious nitro over the surface it hit, but the process used to fabricate this stuff can kill you, not to mention inproperly purified nitro CAN spontaniously explode due to reactions in the chemicals left behind in it *heating up to the point of detnation/combystion*, or become so unstable that it DOES explode with slight shocks.

Bottom line, don't do it, unless you have a professional to guide you through this a few times.

@the fiend. Ive looked through the anarchist cookbook (jolly roger cookbook), and i confess that i was intrigued.

yeh, ill stay away from nitroglycerin, i was just wondering, i didnt know how hard or how dangerous. Didnt the clown responsible for the anarchist cookbook main himself badly following one of his own recipes? Loss of limb or something?

@ddp, ur experiment sounds fun! How exactly did you do it?

Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]

The Anarchist Cookbook
Need i say more ? :-)
Ok, here's some more : Uncle Fester

Also, the jolly roger version of the anarchist cookbook is mostly composed out of BBS post junk about supposed recipes for explosives and poisons.
I have a hard cover copy of the original, and i assure you it is VERY different from the one you read.
Jolly Roger *not to be confused with William Powell, the original cookbook's author* got killed when police raided his loft just as he had set some boobytraps he had made after reading uncle fester's home workshop explosives, blowing half the place and jolly roger to bits.
2 police officers got seriously injured.

to see how high a rubber gasket would fly sitting on an empty tobacco can buried level to the ground with an explosive charge in the can. 1 of these days i'll have to try an underwater explosion.

If you can get your hands on some pure sodium in the metal form you can scare the sh!t out of your neighbors by throwing it in a local pond.

A one pound chunk will explode and then the pieces fly up an explode when they land and the little bits will crackle and zoom around in the water :)

FUN... AS... HELL!...

It is sodium actually, potassium just dissolves in water.

Hmmm I thought I heard my teacher say that when we get into Chemistry (10th grade) She will use Nitroglycerin(spelling)...maybe not it could of been something different with the word nitro or glycerine.

We did something in Biology class yesterday with glycerine and Potassium Permanganate and it made a purple flame....woo hooo...lol its small but its what gives fireworks its color as I am told by my teacher.

Ahh! The wonderful properties of Liquid Nitrogen and Oxygen.

We found out in class that if you freeze a can of colgate shaving cream with liquid N2 or O2 it freezes solid. You can cut the can open and get a solid slug of it. We threw it in a cooler and carried it to the parking lot during lunch.

There was this one bastard hassling me in Woods and knocking my board all over on the joiner... almost lost my hand.

So we shoved it through the cracked open window in his '91 Lumina. It almost filled the entire car when it thawed! LMAO!!!

it is not liquid oxygen you were using but liquid nitrogen.

We did have a small amount of liquid Oxygen in our deep freezer but, yes we used nitrogen. Liquid 02 is a (bit) too cold methinks. But the blue color is pretty wicked... would look good in a high tolerance liquid cooling rig... if they made one that could handle extreme subzero temps that is...
