Was at the OD in Kalamazoo on Sunday and picked up a couple spindles of the OD branded that were on sale. Noticed that they still had a skid of the 75/25's for sale at the front of the store. I wouldn't bite on those tho.
The OD ritek p-16's will work for me just fine.

Can someone share with me the range of quality scans you are getting with the OD branded Ritek P16 media? I prefer Verbs and TY but would be willing to try the OD branded.

I consistantly get 95 to 98 scans with the OD Ritek P-16s.

@9mmruger1: Thanks! that is good. I think I will take me an empty ink cartridge down to my local OD and give 'em a try. For less than 20 cents a disc, not much too lose and maybe much to gain....

@aabbccdd.....just got back from micro center.. they got some good deals on all verbs..
DL=29.99 for 20
SL+/-r 13.99 for 50
printable +/-r 15.99 for 50
and printable DL 74.99 for 20 not such a deal

Ouch! Went to OD and got the 100 spindle for $19.99 and they coded out as RICOHJPN R03. Not getting good scans on the first 3 backups. They are going back tomorrow. Anyone know how to differentiate on the outside spindles the Ritek P16 from the Ricohjph???

I did notice that the center spindle on the OD RICOHJPN disk container I bought was more of a notched square than completely round and smooth as most center spindle pieces are. I'll check that out when I return them tomorrow, the difference could mean different manufacturers or different media code, ie. Ritek P16.....

I went to Office Depot yesterday to look for the 100 packs for 19.99, just to try some. They were out of stock, so I looked around. They had 100 pack Verbatim + Rs (16x) for $27.04...they were the white printables. They were stacked next to Epson printers that would print on them of course. I had just bought 200 Verbs on the last sale at Best Buy and I don't have the printer so I passed. Just thought I would mention it, since so many members use the printables.

The Office Depot Ritek are +R, I don't know if the RICOHJPN are all made in Japan, I haven't seen any from OD yet. but all Ritek are made in Taiwan.

the RICOHJPN are not MIJ but is considered very good media better than Ritek

YOur're right, the RICOHJPN I bought with OD brand are MIT. However my BenQ 1650 is not giving them good scans. Maybe I have been spoiled by all the Verbs and TY that I predominantly burn. Maybe I should give my BenQ some time to get its Solid Burn down pat....

I am using the +Rs. The scans are improving somewhat with fairly consistent ranges around 94-95%. The PI errors and PI Failures are higher than I would like around 140K and 20K respectively. I think I will keep them, but I would haved like to see how well my BenQ 1650 would have burned the Ritek P16s.....

LadieNite, i would steer clear of most TDK media alot of there media will code out as CMC mag which is junk media

blivetNC- went Thar' Bought That - The OfficeDepot 16X DVD+R 's I bought Code out as Ricohjpn - The 100Ct. Spindles that are on sale ! just for Informational purposes I happened to notice that the infamous 75/25 DVD/CDR split spindles are still there & they did'nt sell @$$ 19.99 so they marked them up $24.99 True genius at work no? Especially when you can buy a 100ct. OD spinle for $19.99 ! Must be some O' That Fuzzy Logic I been hearing about ! LOL!!! Anyhow blivetNC they might be riteks where you live or maybe not ! I have'nt gotten to My officedepot Ricohjpns yet from this spindle or the 50's I bought last time !But I have been burning my way through some TDK 4X DVD+R's that are actually Ricohjpns & Have found them very good so far after about 70-80 odd burns with no clinkers other than an occasional human error boo boo ! So hopefully the 16X'rs will be even better . & You make want to hit the store before Saugmon clears the shelves again LOL! Good Luck all & Happy Shopping ! Ps #! The OD 16X DVD+R'S /Ricohjpn's I bought have a slight Maple-syrupy smell Not sickeningly strong or overbearing but noticeable ! Thought you'd want to know that too! bye now

After reading the above, I just had to take out my spindle and give a whiff. You are right, they do smell syrupy. To this Louisiana Boy they almost smell like ribbon cane syrup...but not quite... The more I burn the RICOHJPN the better they seem to get, but they'll never reach the level of Verbs and TY....But I ain't going to complain since I got them for $18. (I took a empty ink cartidge in for $3)...

Hello Guys,
Havent being here in awhile but I do need some advice from you guys. I just bought the samsung 182m drive because its reall cheap and i havent play with the lightscribe before and thought it might be worth a try. The question is how often does the lightsribe media go on sale?? The only sale right now seems to be the micro center's 15 pack of HP for 7.99. I would like to know if thats a good deal or should I just wait for the Verb to go on sale at the Best Buy??

i think microcenter has the 30pc cake box for 29.99 for the verb lightscribe. thats about the best your gnna find them i think
