No, you're right. I wrote that well before the final specs for the add on were released, and wrongly assumed from rumors on avs from some relatively reliable people that the add-on would operate the same way as the Toshiba stand alones when it came to re-encoding the next-gen audio codecs and passing them out through the optical out.

I have the 360 add-on and the only time it passes DTS is when it's on a standard DVD. The DTS soundtracks on HD-DVD's (examples: Tomb Raider, U571, Sahara) are re-encoded to DD 5.1. Like you said a future update should enable re-encoding to 1.5 Mbps DTS.

I have no complaints with picture quality though.
