I patched the iso w/ Toxic Patcher and then I rebuilt it with

CD/DVD Rom Generator 1.50... then burned onto DVD5 w/ Nero...

Used Swap Magic to boot it up and its working... Well at least I can play the first half until someone downsizes the videos.....

The final iso was 3.97 gigs... will have to see how long it lets me go before it crashes... I got to the first save point which took about 10 minutes of play time... so far no problems....

I downloaded the God of War 2 ECHELON file from bit comet, its 6.61 gb in size, but its splitted in 72 parts, just joined them with HJSplit, and what I got was an archive 6.61 in size, named type of file: "file". (??)

What should i do next? how to turn it into an iso?

If you have modchip, use toxic patch on the iso, make sure you have the book type set to dvd rom in your Nero, set speed to 4X, and use a DL disk.

It worked for me, the game is , by far, the most impressive game you'll see on PS2.

Okay let's go through a bit of summation:

First off, a DVD9 Dual Layer burn will work if you have a modchip cabable of playing Dual Layer games (Sorry swap magic users)

No DVD9 to DVD5 tool has been released yet (The original GOW Sonix tool will not work)

The first "half" of the game can be played by applying the Tosic Patch and then rebuilding with GNIE, or how ever you like to rebuild. The game file is 3.97, or there abouts and will allow you to play with saves (I have been playing with no problems for 3+ hours, holy crap on the Barbarian King fight :O )

I have no news on HD loader as I don't personally use that.

I can't tell you where to get the Toxic patch but google is always a good place to start.

Hope that answers some questions. I'm attemptinc to modify the Sonix GOW tool to see if I can adjust it to take the GOW2 toc as the layout of the disc is nearly identical to GOW.

I'll keep you all posted.

hah, well I guess I'm try that Toxic Patch thing.

I bought some dual layered dvds yesterday and burned the game no sweat. I was playing this morning for about an hour. I stopped had to do homework and now I try to play it again, and the disc just spins !wtf! I hear it spin, then stop, then spin again, sob.

I even burned it again, same problem...:(

I have Memorex DVD+R DL -anybody know if those are "decent" ?

Well, the best in my experience is the Sony brand DL disks. The problem being is that if you aren't using a mod chip that will play DL you will get to a certain point and the game will lock up. I havn't got there but I'm sure I will tomorrow.

Alright, MrGone, well I could use some help with this Toxic Patcher thing.

Okay, I ran it, and directed it to the gow2 iso

It did something, then said succesful. The size didn't change...it didn't break it apart into smaller pieces. What does it do?

thanks 4 the help there gone...

...so hey, does the TOXIC PATCH fix it so that I "can" use my swap method to play it?

I have one more dvd dual layer disc....

For now I'm trying it on a single layer disc with the dvd generator way explained above.

So I just bought the game and I'm making a back up, I used DVD Decrypter and it created an MDS and an ISO file. Now when I patched the MDS file with the Toxic DL patcher, it said it was sucessful, but when I tried to patch the ISO file, it failed (Searching: Found IOPRP300.IMG
Patching: Failed!!) As long as the MDS is patched, will the game work properly, or do I have to patch the ISO file which contains all the data?

Is it possible I copied the IMG wrong?

Okay, for Souperfro,

Don't bother buring it with the DL disc, rebuild the image with GNIE or however you like to rebuild the file. Then burn it to a regular DVD5 single layer. It will work up to a certain point (I will post the point at which it cuts out later today)

Hmmm Mfrink,

The Toxic patcher is for the iso itself, it links the 2nd layer of the disk with the first one allowing data to be pulled and burned when it needs it. If it will not accept the patch it may be a faulty rip. Try ripping it again an then apply the patch, Make sure you rebuild the file, it will rebuild to about a 3.97 gig file give or take, then burn to a regular DVD. It will only play to a certain point in the game but then lock up. I am 3+ hours into the game on easy and have had 0 problems with lock up or saving.

wouldn't it be possible to separate the files themselves into two different DVD's?

Unfortunatly no, as the info that the second layer needs to boot is on the first layer.

BTW the exact point of lock up is after the area called The Great Chasm. There is a save point and a bridge, as you progress across the bridge the music will cut out and you can see a save point just floating in the air in the distance. you can go no further with the first layer burn.

You can save just before the bridge though so it should be that bad once the DVD5 patch is released.

The file itself needs to be rebuilt to limit it's size for a DVD5 single layer disk. I suggest the GNIE rebuild tool. It's easy to use amd does a good job. After that you can play about 55% of the game.

I don't want it on a DVD5, i have plenty of DL disks because I have a modded 360, so Id rather just have a fully copied version.

Will it read a backed up DVD9?

I have been trying to rebuild and burn God of War 2 onto a single-layer DVD using ISO Buster, CDVDGEN, GNIE, and have tried both DVD Decrypter and Alochol to actually burn the DVD. The game will boot using Swap Magic, but will neither actually start a new game or load a saved game from early on when playing the actual DVD game. Either the screen will go black after the initial story intro or it will say "Loading" when starting from a saved game.

Any thoughts?
