I think you missed the part in the setup where it asked you about tv! If you get a compatible IR transmitter, you can set it up to control your TV or cable box, and then have that video transmitted into your TV with an input (I have one on my TV tuner) and then supposedly it'll work like a sling box and send your TV to your remote computer - Video works just like audio - your computer buffers it (pre-loads) and then plays it back, keeping the buffer always moving while loading. You don't need alot of bandwidth ... for instance, with whatever compression they use, a sling box INCREDIBLY sends live tv to your phone or computer, from your home internet connection. Where I live, the max up load is 80 kbps, comcast is 75 kbps everywhere, and the max download speed around here is 700 kbps on dsl or 1mb burst from comcast. The sling box works AWESOMELY with this setup, meaning that you don't need alot of bandwidth to send decent quality tv. I'm trying to get my tv tuner working so I can play with the streaming tv stuff, I definitely wanna get some videos lined up and ready to go, but it really just works the same as an MP3.

Overscan you say? You just mean the picture ratio - 4x3, pan & scan, letterbox, etc ... 4:3 will always just show in a square (more or less) box - you'd have to get it to show up in wide screen.

I don't think the orb lets you stream from someone else's pc to your xbox, but then again, if you did the web browsing trick on the 360, you could setup a link that would just open the link a friend sent you and then maybe it'll work ... I don't know! Give it a shot, let us know ;-)

Yeah, I don't see how I could have my friend watching stuff on m PC through his 360. I know it can be done from PC to PC.

With Overscan, I don't really mean the ratio per se: it doesn't matter if it's letterbox or normal, on standard TVs, you will always lose a small part of picture on either side (in some cases in can be a lot). I tried hooking my 360 up to my monitor with the VGA cable, and lo: no overscan; it works like a charm. I'm going to have to upgrade to a LCD lol.

absolutely get an LCD!!! You can get an olevia 42" 342i for around $850 on some websites - and it works GREAT ... and the LCD isn't subject to burn-in like a plasma or DLP, so you won't have problems with the logos from some channels on TV or from your 360 is you leave it on. You can also use the VGA cable so your DVD's are upscaled to 1080i or 720p - whichever you have it in. Its the best upgrade you can do to your system, aside from a full make over!

I got a problem. While trying to watch HD-DVD wmv's through Orb, it'll play through 8-10 minutes of the movie then the 360 will give me an "unsupported content" error. Anyone have any insite to what I may be missing?

- Orb's on, but I'm not logged into the web site
- same error if I play through my Live gamertag or a non Live tag
- I've tried disconnecting my modem from the web, same error

I've never heard of DLP burn-in.

But then wouldn't I need Media Center to play from my pc through the 360? I'm only running XP Home.

I was just noticing something about that myself... If I'm not mistaken, the 360 can play any regular wmv from a disc or even removable storage such as a USB drive, etc. I have yet to test it myself, but I'm intrigued... It may be a great way to show off home made videos without wasting entire DVD discs on one video project.

Im having some trouble here. Okay i instaleld orb and ran some audio files on my xbox 360 which worked fine.

However, my videos werent working at all. Theyre all in AVI and DivX. I add some folders to the Orb's Configuartion so that it could locate my other videos. But when i try to play them in my 360, my 360 doesnt even find them stating "no video files found" and the says somethin about how i can d/l them from xbox live marktetplace. I did some research and read my firewall could interefere with it..true? Am i suppose to convert the files to wma or something? Also, i instaleld the codecs necessary to run my AVI and DivX files.

Also, my photos dont seem to work correctly. Some showup some dont. I used the MY DOCUMENTS folder and a few other folders (just in general, no specific folder with the MY DOCUMENTS), for my images. However, even thoguh i have a ton in there, only a few show up(something with the file extension)?

Oh btw, im on a wireless connection. A labtop is also running through my router(but i dont have orb instaleld on that)

Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

What kind of a 'built-in' firewall are you working with on your router and/or your pc? Also, you may check orb's website, depending on a few factors, you may need to do some port forwarding, etc to make everything work.

I personally didn't have to mess with ports; but I did have some of my own problems at first. I found that if you adjust which folders Orb shares while the 360 is on, it didn't take. So now, if I want to share new files, I start orb, update the shared folders list; then shut it down and restart the program. Once it's all loaded, then and only then, do I turn on the 360. It seems to have something to do with a 'Table of Contents' index sort of thing...

Hopefully some part of that helps.

Learn something new everyday ;) So I've allowed media sharing and selected the 360, but yet my 360 isn't picking up mp11... still just orb.

Does anybody know how to display my whole music folder when using orb to stream MP3s? I've got around 244 artists in one folder, but it only picks up the first 100 on my 360.

I'm sure I had it seeing all at first, but I don't know why it isn't working now.

any ideas?

you have to go and restart your network connection on your dashbord
System-Computers-windows based pc-and disconnect
then go to media and click videos/photos or music it dont matter which one it will ask you if you have media sharing enabled choose "yes, continue" then click computer and it will show your computer network and your ORB stream from there choose your computer i took a screenshot of my tv to give you an Idea..not good quality sorry tv's suck..

okay i was still having trouble with orb so i decided to use TVersity. The videos worked fine but the only i dont like about it is that it doesnt rewind/foward the videos.
Two questions:
1. does the same thing happen with orb?
2. if i buy the the xbox 360 media remote, can i rewind/foward then?

fast forward and rewind might not work good because of the stream speed...

Does anybody know anything about my muisc problem on Orb? Why can't I see all my artists rather than just the first 100?

How do i make it re-scan? Just remove the folder and add it again? It seems odd to me that it's only getting the first 100 artists, like there's a limit on it or something.
