For some reason when I run disc 2, and activate the cheats, the game doesn't pick up my disc 1 save. It just says that my memory card is empty. When I put the disc 1 eboot back on my memory stick, the save is still there, but for some reason disc 2 doesn't see it. Can anyone help?

Well I'm having no luck. Does anyone know a way or a place to just download a savegame file that starts at the beginning of disc 2? I know it won't be my game, but at least I'll be able to play the rest of the game. Also, can anyone tell me where the MGS savegames are stored on the memory stick and what their file extension is?

Wow, I finally got it to work! The problem I ended up having was that my disc 2 was apparently set to ID SLUS 00776 even though according to my popstation, it was 00594 just like my first disc. Thats why my first disc save wasn't being picked up on disc two. I had to use my popstation to extract the iso from the eboot and make a new one. When i did that, the popstation said that my disc two iso was actually set to ID 776, but the gamesave was set to 00594. Don't know why anyone would create an iso like that, but whatever. The new eboot i made had both IDs set to 594 and my savegame showed up fine. After that, the cwcheat worked fine! I can finally play the rest of the game!

One more thing, the really strange part about all this, is that even with my new eboot set up, the lines of code in the cheatspop.db still had to be set to slus 00776 regardless of the fact that the ID for disc two was 00594. The cheats wouldn't work any other way. Weird.

Yah, this happened to me this week where the disk swap was needed but the game saves had different game id's. i know this is risky to ask, but with this lil tip we have above, is there anyone who would be willing to share their Metal Gear disk 1 save with me? this would be appreciated so that I can move on to disk 2. I formatted my mem stick last night with my saves on there.

how exactly do you do this? i'm stuck right now. i'm on a mac, so the only program that i can think of using is PrometeusPro. would that help with this situation of changing the game id on the game saves? anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

I use PSX2PSP which works well for making eboots for my 3.52 m33 cfw. If you're having a problem with your disc 2 not picking up your disc 1 save, then use a popstation like PSX2PSP or any popstation that will make eboots that work on your firmware, to extract the iso from your disc 2 eboot. Then, just use that program to make a new eboot with the right ID's for both the savegame and disc. The reason I like PSX2PSP other than the fact that the eboots it makes work on my firmware, is that when you make an eboot, it lets you set both ID's. I used another popstation before that would only let me set the disc ID, and would tell me that the ID for my original disc 2 eboot was the same as my disc 1 which it wasn't. You can use a popstation to patch an eboot and change the ID's, but sometimes that doesn't work. Its a safer bet to just extract the iso from the eboot that isnt working, and make a new one from scratch. I hope that helps.

Hi there.
The most common problem with this is that you can't change the slus:id to 594 from 076. I've tested with different types of popstation and I don't get it to work( I have tested to make it an iso and patch it) but I found the solution(for me atleast) In popstation you can atleast change the save:id to 594 and that is what's important. If you change that you can download the save from the guy who posted here earlier. http://rapidshare.com/files/12938303/SLUS00594.zip.html
But this is a save that only works on some versions of the game. I had one with the game and save id SCUS instead of SLUS. So I changed it to SLUS in popstation and the 076 to 594 and then put the savegame in the psp savedata map an voila it worked. Though has the guy noobed and you don't have full with rations or life, but you can just go back to the snowfield and restock! If you have any questions about this method just leave a reply!

Gosh Í'm epic!

Disc Swap Fix
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

For anyone who is playing the PSX port to PSP of Metal Gear Solid. You may have encountered the problem of how to Insert Disc 2 after you've beaten Sniper Wolf a second time.

What you need: PSP V3.03 oe-b or higher; Metal Gear Solid Disc 1 & 2 eboots; CWCheat (see below); & Your Thinking Cap.

What to Do:
1.)First thing you need is to download this modified folder of CWCheat. and place it in the Root of your Memory Stick.
Download: Here
"OR" if you already use CWCheat then just open the cheatpops.db from your seplugins folder in Notepad and add these lines to the end of it.
_S slus_00776
_G Metal Gear Solid Disc 2
_C0 Disc Swap Fix A
_L 800B7518 0002
_C0 Disc Swap Fix B
_L 800B7520 0002

2.) Enable the CWCheat by starting the PSP in Recovery Mode (Hold the "R" Shoulder Button during startup). Navigate to Plugins and Enable "CWCheatpops.prx". Then exit and Boot as normal.
Note: Anytime you change settings in the Recovery Menu you run the chance of Bricking your PSP. BE CAREFUL!

3.)Play MGS Disc 1 until you go through the Lvl.6 door in the Snowfield. Don't go down the stairs, save your game, then quit. Put the Disc 2 EBOOT on your memory stick if you haven't already.

4.)Start Disc 2 and before you load your game hold "Select" for a few seconds to bring up the CWCheat Menu. From here go to Select Cheats and enable one of the two cheats availible (be sure to enable cheats from the main menu also).

5.)load your Disc 1 save. If it doesn't work try enabling the other cheat from the CWCheat menu. Now run back into the Comm. Tower, and back out into the Snowfield, then continue down the stairs into Disc 2. Once your in the Blast Furnace you can continue playing.

Note: Once you are past the Snowfield and into the Blast Furnace you won't need to use the CWCheat again so long as you save it. The only time you need to do this is when switching between Disc 1 and Disc 2.

Alternate Psycho Mantis Strategy.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You cannot trade controller ports here so do this method.

When: when fighting Psycho Mantis
Effect: kills Psycho Mantis without him dodging your bullets
How: phone Campbell when Mantis isn't controlling meryl and keep on phoning him until he says he has the answer then get off the phone ,press start and do what he told you to do

This should allow you to break the 2 Statues in the top Corners (ideally by shooting them), Thus preventing Psycho Mantis from reading your mind.
