After burning 2 Cds yesterday, I switched my Pc off.
I turn it on 2day only to realise I have the same problem! What the hell happened.. It was working fine, burning ym Cds now it pops out again.
I tried an uninstall, restart, and it didn't work.
Man, this is gettin annoying. :(
Help!

Ryder,
You got it working one time, me thinks there is a chance to get it to go again, instead of rebooting Mr. Computer let's try turning it off when you let it find itself again, wait a minute and then restart ? so lets try this first -
Try the suggestions for getting the one you have now to work, but as I said before, in a worst case - If trying all you did before doesn't work, you might think about going to ebay - I found a "like new" Panasonic DVD burner offered there for $107.00 and I only searched for 60 seconds.
I sent Praetor a copy of what I found and I think he might agree, if all else fails . . .

So THAT's why you PMd me hehehe. The A04 is a decent drive but I'm sure one could find a better price than 107USD. Of course I'm not a big online shopper so i wouldnt know. A good deal IMO for 60sec :-)

Hey Ryder, when you say "one more shot" are talking .357 magnum here or are we thinking a light smack up side the monitor with a small pillow ??
(Kind of makin? lite of the situation cause I feel your frustration and wish I had something constructive to add for you to try)
Would love to know what it is that causes it to work one time and not another ? anyone think it might be a DMA or IRQ conflicts ?

Lol, Pete, =p
Conflict's, Ahhh, that might be right. I bet I have a few since a couple of things have been playing up recently.
I think I spotted a few conflicts under System Info aswell.. Maybe there is hope.
Im open to suggestions ;)

Ryder,
Just curious when you went to Device Manager>IDE DVD\CD-Rom was there a yellow explanation point on your LG cd burner? Was this device even listed? Most of the time when this happens the "drive" isn't even located in Device Manager and the easy fix for me is to remove the right side panel (looking from the back) and disconnect the ide cable to the device not working, re- connect and boot up and this works for me time. I "think" there is a WinXP patch at Windoze update Preator to solve this problem?. LG cd burners are well known for a short life span if you burn on a routine basis. If your considering purchasing another cd burner I highly recommend the Plextor Premium, Asus 52x or LiteOn52x. If you wan't a dvd-burner, definatly grab the Plextor PX-708A DVD-Burner m8.
Shoey :)

I burn all the time, and right now its costing me!
Oh well, I guess that could be the problem, its detected, no yellow explanation point.
I don't have much cash, Im broke after buying my Ipod, and gettin a new Firewire Card, any recommendations on a cheap burner?
Dvd is out of the picture, too flashy for me, nice, but maybe when I get some money. Ive got other things to buy.
Thanks,
-Ryder

Like I said a-way back in the beginning when it sounded like hardware, start looking on ebay ?
Look in to a ?like new? or rebuilt unit - also, for easy biding, look into ?Auction Sniper? so that they will watch 50 plus items for you, only settle at or below your pocketbook?s limit and stop everything if you get what you want - your bid goes in 3 or 4 seconds before the auction ends so you have a much better chance of getting your burner. You can use their services 3 or 4 times for free -

LOL burner prices have dropped so drastically nowadays you prolly dont need to 'resort' to auction sniping! You can easily find an excellent burner for <$80 CAD. (i.e., the ASUS 522452A)

:-( -not laughing-
I was still referring to the purchasing a DVD Burner as opposed to another CD Burner. If you are going to backup movies, it's so much easier to do so on 1 DVD instead of a couple of CD's. I hate getting up in the middle of a movie to change discs.
I recently purchased a new CD burner for a computer I was selling for $51.00 including shipping. You don?t have to purchase a Lexus or Cadillac when money is a factor and a Ford or Chevrolet will suffice.

Great advice Pete however... If one want's dvd burner that can also backup Safedisc 2.9.x& SecuROM 4.8.3&up then there is only 1 choice at da moment, The Plextor PX-708A

OK Guys -
Feeling a little bit "out of it" tonight, can?t figure out what I?m missing, -
Getting ready for Halloween and I?m using eXPRESS 2.50 (I?m too tired of playing with 3.0?s reading errors- :-(). I?m trying to back all 10 discs of Friday the 13th most worked well but Part VII and X ?say? the burn was successful but the discs refuse to play. I can open the disc on the computer and play all the VOB files and they are perfect but neither WinDVD nor PowerDVD will recognize it as a complete movie !
I really would like to have the whole set backed up by the same method.
Suggestions - ?
