Quote:Also, don't buy the TY value line since those discs aren't held to the same standards as the premium line.
I didnt know there was a difference. the code on my ty's are 03 is that not a premium code...are the 02's premium? Furthermore are all 100 going to be bad then? they came in 4-25 pack sets, what are the chances that all 100 are going to be bad?
Thanks

The media codes will be the same on the value and premium line. Both are made in the same factories with the same stampers the value lines discs are discs that didn't pass the quality standards that the premium line does.
You might have a bad pack and the other three might be fine. One thing I can tell you though is the 16X TYs are not as well received as the 8X TYs which still reign supreme. Update your drives firmware (if new firmware is available) so that the new TY mid code is recognized by your burners write strategy. The 16x discs might be too new for your hardware since TY was one of the last manufacturers to manufacture 16X discs. It doesn't mean they are bad, they are good discs, just too new for a lot of the burners out there that don't know the TG03 write strategy. If you have an older burner you'd probably benefit from a new one with recently updated firmware.
It isn't uncommon to come across a completely bad batch of discs, but usually that is not going to be the case with TYs.
If my drivers are all up to date then am I essentially sol for using them to burn until/if I get a new burner? Also what are the chances of them being read if I were to use nero as opposed to imgburn? Thanks for all the info so far

So I was looking around for firmware/driver updates, and I came across flashing my dvd rom to a diff 'dvd writer' but not really, its odd, but i flashed it to make it a dual layer burner so Ill actually go ahead and try to re burn with the TY discs with this different firmware and let you all know how it goes
