The only reason I got 3.3 is because codebreaker was not working for my SM 3.8. You can also try another way if you have swap magic 3.8.
In the folder SWAPMAGIC on your root directory of your flash drive, swap magic actually allows you to boot up to 4 different programs. What I mean is this, you can rename that file to SMBOOT0.ELF. Let's say you have 3 other elf files you also wanna try, the next one you can rename it SMBOOT1.ELF, etc.
So you will have your folder as /SWAPMAGIC/SMBOOT0.ELF
When you boot swap magic 3.8 regularly, make sure your jumpdrive is plugged into your port, and select SMBOOT. You should have 4 choices, each one respective to the files you created. Just make sure that SWAPMAGIC.ELF is not in your SWAPMAGIC folder you do this method or else it will always boot that one whenever you boot up initially.
For me, the reason I did the /SWAPMAGIC/SWAPMAGIC.ELF method is because the smboot didn't boot up my elfs with cheats ENABLED, but for some reason it worked when I did SWAPMAGIC.ELF.
Here's the SWAP MAGIC 3.3 ELF DVD version:

Here's the SWAP MAGIC 3.3 ELF CD version:

Thanks alphakor and rpg2006 for the links.
okay so I tried rpg2006?s method by loading the codebreaker 7 elf
choose codes then try to load a burnt game
when I choose start game, I load swap magic, then I changed the disc to my burnt game.
However ps2 brings me back to the browser screen when it tries to load the burnt game.
I have no idea what is up with this
Could you tell me how you do it?
Then I tried alphakor?s method
First I loaded swap magic 3.8, then I boot swap magic 3.3.
However I realized that my codebreaker 9.2 or codebreaker 7 elfs are in usb, but the swap magic 3.3 can only load elf in memory cards
So I loaded codebreaker 7 first, load swap magic 3.8, then try to load swap magic 3.3 elf in usb, but it brings me to the browser screen.
So I?m stuck?
Need help, thanks.

Hmmmm...
Okay, this might be kind of a long method, but maybe it will work.
1) Try to download ulaunchelf DVD ISO (all over google) and burn the image.
2) Have SWAPMAGIC.ELF in your SWAPMAGIC folder renamed from your sm 3.3 elf file.
3) Boot your Swap Magic 3.3, then swap for ulaunchelf
4) From there, you can have your flash drive plugged in, so if you go to MASS storage, you should be able to boot your codebreaker elf from there (doesn't have to be called anything specific, as long as it has .elf in the end)
5) Now select your cheats, do what you gotta do, and load your swap magic disk again (3.3 should boot)
6) Swap for your backup, and see if that does the trick.
So you're going to boot swap magic, run ulaunchelf, boot codebreaker, swap magic again, swap for your backup. Try all this through swap magic 3.3, not 3.8.
Hopefully that works.

wow alphakor
that is actually a brilliant idea!
However, it didn't work
first I loaded ulaunchelf through swap magic 3.3, but codebreaker 9.2 still wouldn't load.
so I loaded codebreaker instead, then tried loaded swap magic 3.3 elf, but it takes me to the browser screen.
Although your idea was pretty well thought of, it didn't work for me...
thanks though
I would appreciate any more help

I'm glad I could help out. Out of curiosity, super753, how did u get it to work? I'm sure someone will stumble into this thread and want to know as well, if you don't mind. I personally tried codebreaker elf so many times and I failed every time, it just loaded black screen with grey lines. Is there a special way you did this or did u just luck out with my method? Or did it just work with codebreaker 7? Thx.

it's similar to the method you told me to try
first in your usb, put in codebreaker 7 elf (with any name), and swap magic 3.3 dvd elf (as SWAPMAGIC.ELF)
load swap magic 3.8
load ulaunchelf
insert usb
load codebreaker (codebreaker 7, not 9.2 since it doesn't work for me)
select cheats
press start game
when it asks to put in a game disc, insert swap magic 3.8 disc
usb should be still in the ps2
when loading swap magic 3.8, it will load swap magic 3.3 (usb)
then put in your backup game to play!
it looks like a long process, but it's fairly easy to do
but as rpg2006 have already said, the codebreaker only allows you to input 3 codes (2 essentially, since master code counts as one...)
another down side from that is that if you go to the codebreaker website, most of the cheats require you to have higher version of codebreaker in order for the cheats to work
for example...
the major reason I wanted the codebreaker, was to play star ocean till the end of time.
being able to work the codebreaker, in excitement I typed in the codes into codebreaker
although the website says you need codebreaker 7.0 or higher, it actually requires you to have a higher version
I know this because I tried the codebreaker cheats with zone of the enders which requires codebreaker 1.0 or higher
and it worked!
so I still wish to use codebreaker 9.2, but until someone (or me...) figures out the way to use it, I can't...
anyhow, that is how to use codebreaker 7, hope it helped.
and if you can figure out how to use codebreaker 9.2 from the above method, I would appreciate it if you told me how. thanks in advance
*sorry for the long post

It looks like the solution is to use CodeBreaker V7. From what people have said in the previous posts a couple of drawbacks with using V7 is that it doesn't support multiple codes and doesn't have the newer codes. I did some searching and found that CodeBreaker has described how to fix the multiple codes problem. Here is a link to that web page:
http://www.cmgsccc.com/ps2/news.php
I've also found a piece of software that seems to be able to convert codes from V7 to V9 (and reversed). It is called CB2crypt-v1_4.rar and can be found at:
http://www.hs-merseburg.de/~mlafeldt/ps2/cb/
I haven't tried any of this yet, I've only been doing a bunch of reading/researching. I hope the above links are useful.

I have tried to get Swap Magic 3.6 (a little off topic from SM 3.8), a 77001 PS2 and CodeBreaker 7.0 elf to work using the above information. However, it only goes to the PS2 browser window at the end. I have been able to use ARMax EVO with ARMAXEVO_SWAPMAGIC.rar using SmokyRain's provided version located at:
http://rapidshare.com/users/6AGOJ0 (password: windrider)
There is an older version there named ARMAX-EVO.rar but the newer version (with newer codes) is the one titled ARMAXEVO_SWAPMAGIC.rar.
This version will boot all the way through, with codes, and actually allows the game to load up.
On problem I have (which is way off topic) is that the ARMax software sees my 64mb Sony memory card as an ARMax card. I am unable to either transfer codes from the USB drive or to save anything to the memory card. Other than that, the card works fine.

I want to try out the method that 'super753' posted before but I haven't got ulaunchelf. Has anyone got a link to a download of it that is tried and tested? Or super753, can you post where you got your ulaunchelf from? Thanks.

SmokeyRains link (see my above post) has Ulaunch elf along with a bunch of other utilities. You can also find almost all PS2 apps by Googling them. You may have to read through a few posts but you'll eventually find a link that gets you there.

Excuse the double post, but when you insert the USB, what is it supposed to show up as on ulaunchelf? because when I inserted mine, nothing new came up. Does a new option show up..... or what do I press?
Thanks.

assuming that you are following my procedure,
it's normal for nothing to come up.
You have to plug in the usb later (after swap magic loads or after loading ulaunchelf), because if the swap magic is booted with the usb plugged in, it will load swap magic 3.3 instead.
I hope this helps

I'm assuming you are asking how to use the Ulaunch program. If not, just ignore the following.
For your initial screen you probably see a screen that says:
"O: FileBrowser" and
"SELECT: Configure".
Press the controller "O" button and you'll see a screen that has the following list (stuff in brackets is not seen):
mc0:/ [is the memory card in slot 1]
mc1:/ [is the memory card in slot 2]
hdd0:/ [is a hard drive if you have one]
cdfs:/ [is the PS2's CD/DVD drive]
mass:/ [is a usb drive plugged into either of the two usb ports on the ps2.]
MISC:/ [contains some built in programs: HDDManager, Filebrowser, TextEditor, and some others]
The bottom of the screen will have a legend and tell you what things mean. The use of "O" and "X" may be reversed, so definitely look at the bottom of the screen.
Use your controller D pad to highlight "mass:/". Use "O" to enter the USB drive. Highlight your Elf file (with the D pad)and run it by using the "O" key.

Thanks for the help guys. This is what happened: (I was following super753's method)
Ok I put in SM 3.6
Loaded up ulaunchelf
Loaded the Codebreaker 7 from my USB
I chose the cheats I wanted
Pressed on Start Game
Then inserted my game (Its not a backup)
The screen went black and nothing happened.
I also tried inserting SM after I pressed on Start Game but the screen just went black again...
I don't get what's so different from what Im doing and what super's doing.

Ive got it now. I was trying to enter new cheats for games that arent supported by CB7. I need to get CB9 to work somehow like super753.
I can use CB7 now, using the cheats that are already on there.

Hello!
I have a ps2 slim (PAL VERSION)with the swap magic 3.6 and i'm looking for something to load from usb key for use cheat codes. I have read load action replay max it's impossible so i have looked for codebreaker but unfortunately it seem there is no way to run it on a ps2 slim pal... (it just show black screen or black screen with something....). The problem should be into the new sony usb drivers.
There is a way to extract the coder from the swap magic 3.8 and launch it from usb? Will be great.... Of course any other idea will be appreciated.
Thanks in advace!!!

There is a SM 3.8 coder elf in a file called "19_Cheattdevice_ELF_Files_for_PS2.rar" available at:
http://rapidshare.com/users/6AGOJ0 (password: windrider)
I have not been able to get it. or other code cheat Elfs, to work with SM 3.6. The only success I've had is with the special ARMax SM disk (also located at the above link).

Thanks man, i'll try the elf :)
Well, i already have armax swap magic edition and it works but man...
it's a nightmare.... every time i have to cheat i must load the swap, load action replay (it will take a while for load), then put the swap again and then my backup game... really.... that's what i call a painful solution.....
There is not a way to run the image from and usb hdd?
I have tried but then action replay won't load the game from dvd.. it just keep trying to read from hdd i guess.....

Blackg33:
Go to http://psxfirehawk.phpnet.us/ (file password - "firehawk")
The site has Xploder V5 Pal plus a large number of apps (and in keeping with the theme of this thread, it has every version of Codebreaker in elf form). It is a Portuguese site but you'll be able to use it. Click each of the 3 Xploder parts (disk icons), wait for the "tired of waiting" message to change to "download file" and then click download file. I believe it is the full version (rather than an Elf) since it is over 100 megs.
