Then it is definitely a connection error recheck all you connections at both ends of the jtag with a multimeter. Desolder the connection from the pads and make sure there is no solder spills between the pads.

cool ill give it a check and see how it goes, it all seems intact but ill double check it by re-soldering the points.

OK no problem just check for solder splashes on the tracks and between the pads also.

hi ,
what do you mean by the pads, are they the line connections on the circuit?

Pads are where you connections are soldered to the Starview. If it is a first generation box it will have pins instead.

hi,
i have re-soldered all the connections and checked that there are perfectly intact with the solder points, now when i run sky max v1, v2 or jkeys software it comes up saying the parallel port could not be opened or no connection from com port one, could it be that the jtag that im using is faulty as its been used a few times?

Sounds more like a pc problem. Maybe your port settings have reset. Is you parellel port opening and is it set to EPP and IRQ 378 as it needs to be. You can change the settings in the bios. Also download new versions of skymax and try them as they may be corrupt. Failing that your Jtag may have become faulty. I am heading for a while so best of luck with it either way.

Not a very positive reply everyones problems with jtags are not the same, even though symptoms match, (your code error was different), and nearly all peolpe that come here eventually jtag them sucessfully.

Hi guys
A mate gave his Clone starview to someone to reflash and got it back "dead". Was told there is an electronics problem with it.
Personally I suspect it has been flashed with the genuine Starview firmware and this is the reason why its completely dead. Have read a number of posts regarding this problem and there is a lot of reference to "Jtags". Unfortunatley the link to the Jtag Tutorial posted by Sc0user is broken. Any advice would be appreciated

Do you have a Jtag? It depends on wheter or not its buffered or non buffered, in regards to attaching to the VCC?

I haven't made up a lead yet, not sure what you mean by buffered or non-buffered.
